As a kitchen assistant / scullery you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for plates, cutlery and cooking utensils. This position also ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe, and sanitary facility.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain dishwashing machines to wash and sanitise dishes and cutlery
• Wash items by hand as necessary, particularly larger pots, pans and cooking utensils
• Ensure all dishes and utensils are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before use
• Sort and stack clean items and store them properly in designated areas
• Regularly check and maintain dishwashing machines, including checking levels of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals
• Clean and maintain the dishwashing area, including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down counters, and emptying trash bins
• Ensure the kitchen complies with all food safety and sanitation standards
• Immediately report any maintenance or safety issues to Head Chef

Requirements

• 2-3 years of experience in a similar role
• Ability to handle manual dishwashing duties
• Basic understanding of kitchen sanitation and safety regulations
• Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work on public holidays
