The Coordinator for Student Programming and Greek Life is a member of the CSLI team. The Coordinator supports key components of campus life, which include (1) serving as the adviser to the Student Programming Board, including logistics, development, assessment, and event staffing, (2) working with Bryant Greek Life, including but not limited to, advisement of campus Sorority chapters/governing bodies and support of overall large-scale Greek initiatives, (3) implementing CSLI programs, (including late night and weekend activities), and (4) supporting student organization success. CSLI aims to provide opportunities that meet the need of a residential campus. As such, the position will include times where there are non-standard schedules that require night and weekend hours.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Advise and oversee the Student Programming Board (SPB):
- Logistics – Oversight of finance, contracts, insurance, and other event planning logistics
- Development – Work to train and provide opportunities for SPB members to grow into leaders and become effective event planners. Support leaders as they manage the overall structure and policies associated with their organization.
- Staff Liaison – When appropriate, work with campus and external partners on behalf of SPB including but not limited to agencies, production companies, vendors, performers, and campus partners (eg. Facilities, A/V, Campus Risk Manager, etc.)
- Continuous Improvement & Assessment – Challenge the SPB to evaluate programming, address campus needs, and continue to stay relevant to the Bryant community. This includes support around artist/speaker selection and overall program ideation.
- Extended Programmatic Support – Some events will require extensive staff support from the Coordinator. Events includes Spring Weekend/Spring Concert, Big B Weekend, Fall Concert, Winter Weekend, and annual major speakers.
- Event Staffing – Depending on scale and campus policies, the Coordinator will staff relevant events and trips and/or coordinate student staffing
2. Greek Life:
- Serve as one of the departments advisers to social and educational Greek organizations and their governing councils. This includes support with day to day needs, special events, developmental/interpersonal issues, community/residential standards, and goal setting.
- Responsible for approving Greek organization event plans contingent on compliance with University policies and risk management procedures
- Support, oversee, and expand Greek events and initiatives, which include recruitment, Greek Week, Greek Summit, hazing prevention, philanthropic endeavors, sexual assault awareness events, and leadership development training opportunities.
- Ensure compliance of Greek organizations with risk management compliance policies. This includes supporting and expanding services provided to Greek students around topics such as hazing, alcohol/drugs, sexual misconduct, healthy gender roles, and risk management.
- Oversight and management of the Greek checklist and other campus logistics. This includes all campus requirements and processes around reporting, assessment, grades, dues, safety, events, contracts, and budget.
- Manage and serve as liaison with (inter)national/regional representatives and advisers.
- Market and advocate for the Greek life program at Bryant
3. Programming & Event Management:
- Late Night, Weekend, and Consistent Programming: Lead, expand, and oversee current programming opportunities. Plan and implement new late-night activities and initiatives for students. Collaborate with a variety of campus partners to meet the needs of specific subsets of the student body.
- Event Mapping and Tracking: Serve as the primary point person for improving pre-event tracking, managing CSLI’s master calendar of events and creating dynamic methods to collect, package, and market opportunities to students. This includes the Weeks of Welcome, SPB, and programming brands.
4. Student Organizations:
- Advise a portfolio of student organizations. As a CSLI adviser, the Coordinator supports the day to day and big picture support of their goals and operations. This includes serving as a resource and meeting with students on topics including but not limited to event/content development, resource management, policy navigation, member recruitment and development, and overall organizational management.
- Help oversee resources, technical systems, and policies that support student organization management, communication, and event planning/logistics.
- As the Nighttime Coordinator, support the staffing of student organization events when needed
5. CSLI Support and Other Duties as Assigned: Support the oversight of CSLI policies/systems, present on behalf of the department, serve on various campus committees, staff and plan general CSLI events as needed and execute other departmental duties as assigned. Work with the larger CSLI team to ensure seamless delivery of larger departmental initiatives.
Qualifications
Best served by a person with:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or relevant field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 2-3 years of higher education work experience required (may include graduate assistantships)
- Greek life experience required
- Working knowledge of managing budgets, contracts, and safety/liability
- Event and programming experience
- Strong knowledge of student development theory and practice
