The UAFS campus is comprised of 77 buildings and facilities located on 170 beautifully-manicured acres and crowned with the Donald W. Reynolds Campus Plaza, Tower, and Campus Green. Students who choose to live on campus may do so in one of two residence hall complexes, complete with a full-service dining center, or the on-campus apartment complex for married students and upperclassmen. Campus involvement is encouraged by participation in more than 100 registered student organizations, which includes academic societies, a dynamic Greek life system, intramural sports, and cultural/special interest groups. The UAFS Lions compete in the NCAA Division II Lonestar Conference in men’s baseball, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball, golf, cross country, and tennis.

About the College / Department

Position Summary

The collaborative pianist serves as accompanist to music students and faculty/colleagues on student and faculty performances. This is an hourly position. The position reports to the Head of the Department of Music.

Summary of Job Duties

  • Accompany music students in scheduled rehearsals, lessons, and performances.
  • Accompany music faculty members/colleagues in scheduled rehearsals and performances as needed.
  • Prepare and perform music at a high level.
  • Accompany student ensembles in rehearsals and performances as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education. Experience in working collaboratively with others on piano.

License(s)/Certifications

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or above in music.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Piano performance skills.
  • Skill in collaborating with a variety of instruments and groups.
  • Good organizational skills and timeliness in responding to student inquiries.
  • Ability to respond to needs of learners from a variety of educational backgrounds in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to evaluate one’s own performance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with students and colleagues.

Special Job Dimensions

The individual will work with students to schedule rehearsals, lesson meeting times, and performances. Rehearsals and lessons are typically scheduled during the week during business hours. Nights and weekend duties may be required. Travel, while rare, is possible.

Work Schedule

Varies; 10-15 hours/week.

Salary $20/hour
