Position Description

The Department of Classics and Religion in the Faculty of Arts invites applications for Sessional Instructors to teach the following courses in Fall 2021 & Winter 2022.

Fall 2021 (August 30 – December 24, 2021)

GRST 315 Women & the Family in the Greek and Roman World, MWF 13:00-13:50

RELS 201 Jews, Christians and Muslims, TR 9:30-10:45

RELS 205 Religion and the Good Life, (WEB-BASED)

RELS 373.12 Topics in Religious Studies, Intro to Sikhism, TR 12:30-13:45

Winter 2022 (January 3 – April 29, 2022)

LATI 203 Latin II, MWF 10:00-10:50

RELS 200 Religious Myths and Worldviews, (WEB-BASED)

RELS 357 Islam, TR 12:30-13:45

RELS 373.16 Women and Judaism MWF 10:00 – 10:50

Proof of completion of PhD or PhD candidacy**

Teaching evaluations from a course you have taught or for which you have been a TA

Cover letter indicating which courses you are interested in teaching

Three academic reference letters (if not already on file)

Statement of teaching philosophy and methods

Course names and descriptions of courses you have taught

A course proposal and reading list for each course you are applying for

**Doctoral students who have passed their candidacy exams 30 days before the course begins are eligible to apply. Please indicate in your letter of application the anticipated dates for completion of the candidacy exams.

Please note that the courses are tentative, pending sufficient enrollments.

For salary information, please refer to TUCFA’s Collective Agreement, Schedule B. As per the Collective Agreement, the Department of Classics and Religion adheres to the right of first refusal terms (Section 23.12.1 and 23.12.2) for Sessional Appointments.
