Job Overview
The social worker will be part of the core team at the Blue Solidarity Center (BSC) in Thessaloniki. This role is critical to ensuring the effective and holistic support of beneficiaries by providing psychosocial support, serving as the main entry point for new arrivals, and collaborating closely with other services, including legal aid, employability, and interpretation. The postholder will be responsible for welcoming beneficiaries to the center and facilitating their access to staff and services.”
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial reception and needs assessments for new arrivals.
- Provide adequate information on the Blue Solidarity Center (BSC), available services, and the procedures required to access them.
- Respond to incoming calls, book appointments, share information, and take messages as needed.
- Assess individual needs and develop tailored intervention/pathway plans.
- Provide case management services, including internal referrals to relevant BSC services (e.g., legal aid, employability, psychosocial support).
- Ensure timely and appropriate external referrals to complementary services and follow up, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Identify particularly vulnerable individuals or groups and facilitate their access to specialized support.
- Support beneficiaries in navigating public services and administrative procedures (e.g., obtaining Social Security Numbers, opening bank accounts), both within and—when needed—outside the BSC.
- Work closely with other professionals at the Center to provide coordinated and holistic support to beneficiaries.
- Ensure the proper registration of beneficiaries in accordance with BRC operating system (issuing cards, managing database, ensuring GDPR process is adhered to).
- Adhere to data protection policies (GDPR) and uphold ethical and confidentiality standards.
- Maintain thorough and up-to-date documentation of cases and services provided.
Qualifications
- University degree in Social Work.
- Proven experience in social work or similar roles within NGOs or community-based settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Fluency in Greek and English (both written and spoken).
- Knowledge of issues related to asylum seekers, migrants, and vulnerable populations will be considered an asset.
Desired
- Field work experience, e.g. in camps or temporary settlements
- Interest and experience to work with vulnerable groups
- Knowledge of Arabic, French or Farsi
