Fraternity and Sorority Life
Position Description
Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Major/Essential Functions
Leadership and Programming:
Serves as TTUs principal advocate for the sorority and fraternity community.
Translates and executes TTUs strategic vision for Fraternity & Sorority Life.
Provides leadership and support to three full-time staff members, oversees departmental operations, provides stewardship over an annual budget in excess of $400,000.
Is responsible for communication flow to students and community stakeholders.
Serves as Texas Techs liaison to the Greek Alumni community and (Inter)National sorority and fraternity headquarters.
Work with colleagues to develop future insight to initiatives and needs for campus.
Develops and implements appropriate programming in conjunction with Risk Intervention and Safety Education (RISE) Office and other campus partners.
Provides counsel for policy development pertaining to sororities and fraternities, including community standards.
Develops and implements diversity and inclusion initiatives in conjunction with the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Division and other campus partners.
Develops outreach initiatives including working with local chapter volunteers and national organizations.
Maintain fiscal oversight of program budgets and utilize appropriate procurement and contracting practices to include regular review of council budgets.
Provide support, education and training to Chapter volunteers.
Serve as a resource for students, parent/families, faculty, staff and community and headquarters partners on issues related to sorority and fraternity life.
Serves as a member of the Greek Accountability Team that implements and oversees the TTU Student Conduct Partnership Process.
Assessment and Outreach:
Oversee the implementation of assessments to evaluate the effectiveness/success of the sorority and fraternity programs.
Collaborate with other University offices to design and implement educational efforts regarding University policy; including, hazing, alcohol and drugs, sexual violence, event planning and other risk management issues to include state mandated Clay R. Warren initiatives.
Serves on University-wide and Student Affairs committees and task forces as needed.
Provide support, education and training to Chapter volunteers and Housing Corp Boards.
Serve as resource students, parents/families, faculty, staff, and community and headquarters partners on issues related to sorority and fraternity life.
Other Duties as Assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with a large residential sorority and fraternity community.
Masters degree in higher education or related field.
Demonstrated experience serving diverse student populations.
Demonstrated group facilitation and curriculum/learning design experience.
Five or more years experience of professional staff supervision.
