- Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:* The Office of Student Engagement/Student Center is a department within the Division of Student Affairs. The mission of the department is to provide cultural, social, recreational and educational programs that enhance the overall educational development of students and promote programs that improve the campus culture. The department is also responsible for coordination of the student organization recognition process, student organization leadership development and administrative advising of select student organizations including the Student Government Association, Student Activities Council, and Miss FSU and Mr. FSU. The unit also assists with Greek affairs; publishes the FSU Yearbook; and coordinates lyceum programs, and special event weeks to include Welcome Week, Homecoming, Spring Rodeo, and the Miss FSU and Mr. FSU Pageants. *Primary Purpose of Position:* The Associate Director provides leadership in the management of the Office of Student Engagement. Employee conceptualizes, implements and continually improves policies and procedures, develops a comprehensive slate of programs and activities and identifies new technology to enhance the Fayetteville State University student experience. The Assistant Director develops a comprehensive slate of programs and activities, helps supervise several full-time and student staff members, manages a portion of the Student Engagement budget, and actively participates in Office of Student Engagement strategic planning. The Assistant Director serves as a general resource to the university community on issues pertaining to programming and event logistics. The Assistant Director of Student Engagement reports to the Director of Student Engagement and serves as a key member of the staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in Educational Administration, College Student Personnel, Sociology or other related field is required. At least 3-5 years of administrative experience in the student activities/engagement or student union at the college level or an equivalent combination of experience and training. 2Additional Training/Experience: Five years of successful experience in a University Student Center/Union. Demonstrated experience in program development for diverse populations. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
