1. Job Purpose

To perform pick-up and delivery of shipments with the associated documentation, in accordance with company and network standards, whilst meeting customer requirements.

2. Principal Accountabilities

  • Delivery and/or pick-up of shipments from customers, according to the delivery and pick-up standards.
  • Capture and return complete and accurate data in accordance with the standards set.
  • Represent DHL in an honest, friendly, helpful manner in order to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Anticipate and respond positively to individual customer’s problems, needs and identify opportunities for extended use of DHL’s services.
  • Maintain and promote DHL’s corporate image through well-maintained uniform, vehicle etc.
  • Support and participate in team activities.
  • Safety and security: adhere to country laws and regulations, company and third party rules and standards.
  • Observe high standards of security, handling and control of our customer’s shipments and DHL/customers’ property.
  • Check communication equipment and perform routine checks on the condition of his/her vehicle prior to departure from station.

3. Nature and Scope

a) Context:

The jobholder reports into the Operations Dept the key responsibilities being the execution of pick-up’s & deliveries within a specific area or route and in accordance with DHL standards & Global SOP procedures. There is continuous contact with customers on a daily basis and the jobholder must act in a polite and professional manner.

b) Reporting Relationships:

The Courier position reports into the Operations Station Supervisor. The Operations Manager has the Senior Management responsibility for all operation staff.

c) Contacts:

External: Customers

Internal: CSA’s, Dispatchers, Team leaders, Cash-controllers, Sales Department

d) Problem Solving:

To find ways and alternatives in order to fulfill all pick-ups & deliveries taking under consideration the time limitations of customers whilst applying DHL standards. (TDX/WMX/CMX)

e) Decision Making:

To prioritize pick-up’s & deliveries according to route demands and take initiative during the course of his work which will help decrease problems.

f) Planning and Organization:

To plan & organize his route in the most effective manner in order to avoid returned shipments that affect operations performance measures.

g) Job Challenge:

To meet the targets & DHL standards

4. Knowledge, Skills and Experience
