Summary

The Department of Campus Life at Barry University seeks a full time Coordinator of Greek Life.

The coordinator of Greek Life supports the work of the Fraternities & Sororities through advisement, program development and evaluation, benchmarking and assessment, strategic planning and execution, and other duties that further the advancement of the Greek Community at Barry University

Essential Functions

Advising:
Serve as the primary advisor to all of the fraternity & sorority life supplemental programs/areas of focus

Advisement in the governing councils and chapters as assigned

Advise fraternity & sorority life and collaborate with the national organizations.

Provide direction for the Greek Life Community that is consistent with the overall university strategic plan.

Assist in conducting grade and conduct review of all students seeking membership into a Greek organization.

Manages the establishment/expansion of new fraternity and sorority organizations

. Programming & Education:
Serve as primary person in planning and organizing of programming and educational opportunities including but not limited to retreats, council/chapter transition, officer trainings, risk prevention/harm reduction, hazing. Alcohol and other drugs, new member experience, social justice, accountability, and other issues as they may arise.

Support community, council, and chapter-specific events including, but not limited to recruitment/intake, “Greek Week”, all Greek Awards, and meetings with students, advisors, alumni, and more

Develop and implement ongoing assessment plans

Analyze feedback and assessment gathered at Greek programming and educational opportunities

Collaboration:
Continue to develop and evaluate policies, programs, and procedures for the Greek Community

Attend weekly/monthly Greek Community meetings

Create/Find ways for the Greek Community to stay involved with other departments, clubs, and organizations to build a strong and united presence with all of the Barry Community.

Program Coordination:
Develop community and campus wide initiatives that promote philanthropic programs geared toward BU Students.

Build campus-wide tutorial programs for achieving academic excellence amongst the Greek Life Community

Coordinate an accountability program that encourages students to meet academic, social, and philanthropic standards

Qualifications/Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline is required.

1-3 years of previous experience as a Coordinator of Greek Life is preferred.

Must be able to effectively communicate and deliver information

Intermediate skills using MS Office Suite

Must have a valid driver’s license

Membership in Greek Organizations preferred, but not required.

Must be able to attend training as it relates to the hiring and supervision of GA positions.
