Position Information

BASIC FUNCTION

Serves as chief administrator and as such plans and direct the work activities, program development and implementation of policies within and related to Campus Life including direct supervision of the functional units: Armour J. Blackburn University Center, Student Life and Activities and Intramurals and Recreational Activities.

DIMENSIONS

Supervises professional and clerical personnel of the units.

NATURE AND SCOPE

Internal contacts are with a wide range of faculty, staff, administrators and students regarding policy questions. External contacts are with senior level personnel

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Serves as chief administrator of Campus Life reporting to the Associate Vice President.

Responsible for direct management and administrative oversight of the Directors of Student Activities, Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, Leadership Development, Intercultural Affairs, Intramurals and Recreational Sports, the University Center and the University Scheduling Office. Develops and implements an in-service training program for professional staff.

Plans, recommends, coordinates and implements programs in the areas of Student Life, Intercultural Affairs, Intramurals and Recreational Sports, Greek Affairs, Student Activities, the University Center and Scheduling Office.

Interprets, evaluates and communicates the goals, purposes and objectives of departments under his/her supervision.

Serves as chief liaison between departments under his/her supervision and other University administrators and educational and service units.

Assists the Vice President for Student Affairs in the development, interpretation of the purposes, goals and objectives for Campus Life, consistent with the philosophy, policies and regulations of the University.

Provides leadership, guidance and assistance to the University community in matters of student life, welfare and development. Including serving as part of a crisis response team and on an on-call rotation.

Responsible for the preparation and administration of the budgets of the departments under her/his supervision.

Serves as representative of the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and is responsible as the principal University officer in all matters pertaining to Student Activities, the University Center, International Student concerns, Greek Life, Leadership Development, Intramurals and Recreational Sports, and Central Scheduling.

Performs other related and miscellaneous duties and specific projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs.

Provides guidance and counseling to individuals and groups of a personal, social and educational nature.

Responsible for organization and implementation of Central Scheduling and University-Wide Scheduling.

Conducts continuous evaluation of programs and activities under his/her supervision and makes appropriate recommendations to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs concerning plans and programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree in student personnel, education, sociology or related field and six (6) years experience in higher education administration or any equivalent combination twelve (12) years of education and experience.
