The EY Strategy and Transactions (SaT) team combines all the experience and expertise available within EY in order to offer a complete range of value-added services and to advise on corporate transactions. The CESA SaT team is comprised of over 470 professionals coming from various backgrounds and disciplines, such as corporate finance, private equity, advisory, industry and audit.

Within SaT, the Transaction Diligence team aims to assist clients, both private equity firms and corporate clients, throughout the whole transaction process. Whilst traditional financial due diligence is a key element of the service, transaction support is much broader, incorporating assistance with business plan assessment, management support throughout the M&A and transaction process, negotiations and transaction completion support.

The opportunity

We are looking for Managers to join our Greek Transaction Diligence team based in Athens.

As part of our Transaction Diligence team you will work with a wide range of clients, from entrepreneur-led businesses to large global enterprises. You will have the opportunity to work with both corporate and private equity clients, across various industry sectors. The complex nature of our projects means youll often be working with other EY colleagues from varied backgrounds and disciplines.Through our integrated network you will have the chance to collaborate with the EY community globally offering you a unique experience to participate in large-scale projects and work in a diversified multicultural environment.

Through analysis of financial, commercial and operational data, our industry-aligned transaction diligence professionals add true value to clients, providing insights to key decision-makers and stakeholders that help them increase value and reduce risks and uncertainty inherent in transactions. You will help to identify key value drivers, challenge assumptions about future performance, search for and advise on hidden value, and work with other EY service teams to deliver an integrated approach to our clients before, during and after the transaction.

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage due diligence engagements related to the acquisition or disposal of businesses by private equity investors or strategic corporate buyers

  • Analyse financial/operational results of targets through review of their accounting records and conducting interviews with management

  • Project manage teams and engagements, information flows and manage key stakeholders

  • Prepare/evaluate pro forma financial information

  • Identify issues that impact purchase price and deal structuring

  • Based on your analysis write up your findings and recommendations

  • Direct communication with partner or/and senior manager on the project.

  • Provide coaching and share your technical and soft skills knowledge with your team and the department and draw upon previous experience

  • Play a role in the sub-service line strategic initiatives (e.g. key account clients, recruitment, client service framework) and new business opportunities by building client relationships and demonstrating knowledge of client business

  • Understand the capabilities of the firm and look for opportunities to sell additional services to our clients

Skills and attributes for success

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Transaction Diligence role within a Consulting or Big4 environment or similar role with deep understanding of transaction considerations, working independently and with senior stakeholders on multiple engagements

  • Solid knowledge of accounting (mainly IFRS)

  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to the details and confidence to translate complex data into meaningful insights.

  • Fluency in Business English – advanced level.

  • Be an excellent communicator, both oral and written

  • Present strong project management skills, being an effective time manager, able to manage and meet various strict deadlines under pressure

  • Be a team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels

Ideally, youll also have

  • A proven record of excellence in audit and/or mergers or acquisitions transactions rolewithin another large professional services organization .

  • Hold ACCA or CFA professional qualification

  • A strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas in a collaborative team environment.
