The Department of Classics is a dynamic and creative unit with 11 faculty and 2 staff members serving 33 undergraduate majors, 15 graduate students, and over 10,000 student credit hours per year in courses pertaining to the ancient Greek and Roman world. The Office Assistant reports to the Administrator, performing a wide variety of clerical work and administrative support tasks.

Specific job functions include:
Daily Operations: monitor the front desk and reception area, answer basic questions, provide course add codes, and monitor/respond to the department email account.

Clerical: maintain department email lists, draft correspondence, photocopy/scan documents, update department website, distribute mail, maintain equipment inventory, and purchase supplies via the College of Arts & Sciences Administrative Support Team.

Event Coordination: book rooms, produce signs, flyers and announcements, and set up for events.

Educational support: format, update and prepare program course flyers, serve as time schedule coordinator for the department, and maintain seminar library.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED and two years of office or administrative support experience OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, and Google Shared Drive

Strong written, digital and oral communication skills, including tact, diplomacy, and discretion

Demonstrated collaborative work style and ability to work well in a diverse workplace
