Job Summary: The Education Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the development, management and implementation of quality educational programs for students, families and adult audiences.
Additional Department Summary: The CrossingPoints Program is a nationally recognized three-tier model program of inclusive transition and postsecondary education for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities at The University of Alabama (UA). CrossingPoints is seeking a Coordinator of Outreach, Independent Living, and Public Relations to work with the CrossingPoints Core Management Team (CMT) to fulfill three-fold overarching roles. First, to develop strategies for providing program students with guidance in developing skills for pursuing and accessing inclusive opportunities for social and extramural involvement on- and off-campus, including service and volunteer opportunities. Secondly, to provide direct supports to CrossingPoints students individually and in small group for developing independent living skills in accord with their respective emerging and/or established independent living goals. Additionally, the person in this position will
serve as the public relations point person inn promoting a positive public image of the CrossingPoints program. Working with CMT, the CrossingPoints Coordinator of Outreach, Independent Living, and Public Relations will support program students in all aspects of social and independent skills development, from skills training to exploration of inclusive social and independent living opportunities. The position will report to the Program Director.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher and at least two (2) years experience working in an educational setting.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver’s license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) or more years of professional experience in a higher education setting. Experience in working with persons with disabilities. Bachelor’s degree in journalism, PR, communication, marketing, or related field. Undergraduate membership in an Inter/National Greek-letter organizations or student leadership e.g., in student government. Ability to seek and/or secure external funding.
