Essential Duties
Assists in the management of the department and serves as a resource for the Director regarding requirements and trends in department.
Coordinates and implements student engagement programming for undergraduate and graduate online students, both day and night activities and events.
Collaborates with university partners, including Dean of Students, Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS), Associated Students of Arizona State University (ASASU), Arizona State University Alumni Association (ASUAA), etc. to respond to student concerns and support the larger community in interpreting procedures and services.
Create effective marketing strategies to promote programs and events sponsored by Student Engagement team.
Assist Director in managing all online student clubs and organizations and assist with the registration process for new student clubs and organizations.
Provide functional event support, guidance, and direction for all student activities, events, etc. put on by the Online Student Government.
Designated as the staff member who will meet monthly with each online fraternity/sorority president.
Develops, edits, and distributes student communications, including website content and social media.
Assists in general supervision for the department (student workers, coordinators, etc.)
Monitors work in progress and upon completion.
Develops social engagement strategies and tracks trends.
Participates in roll out of new tools that engage students. (i.e. Slack)
Participates at a University level in committees and projects that engage online students.
Implements corrective action as required.
Participates in planning, developing, and administering department budget.
Prepares or coordinates preparation of financial and administrative reports; analyzes and interprets statistics, financial data, and management planning data for predicting resource needs and developing long-range plans.
Conducts and assists with the development of long- and short-range goals.
Develops objectives, and activities based on department goals.
Develops, maintains, and implements department policies and procedures.
Serves as a representative of the University at state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils, and committees as assigned.
Represents the department and serves on various department and university committees.
Acts as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff in facilitating university programs.
Develops, implements, and evaluates department programs.
Assists in the design, development, and coordination of projects.
Resolves problems and issues affecting the department and recommends measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
Disseminates information to success coaches as necessary.
Works with ASU partners to ensure optimal student experience.
Participates in commencement organization and execution.
Ability to lead by example in communicating, participating in and encouraging support of the department’s student engagement activities.
May act in place of the Director in that person’s absence.
Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
Evidence of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
Experience working within Student Engagement team and/or creating activities to increase student engagement.
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use multiple social media platforms.
Demonstrated knowledge of student governing councils (the Interfraternity Council, the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, Inc., the National Pan-Hellenic Council, the Multicultural Greek Council, and the Panhellenic Council).
Evidence of being a strategic thinker with desire to be creative and help build affinity to ASU with the online student population.
Experience working in higher education with online students.
Experience in planning, analyzing, and coordinating activities and establishing priorities.
Experience in establishing and maintaining strong, effective working relationships.
Experience with exploration of and implementation of student success tools.
Evidence in adaptability, problem solving and decision making.
Demonstrated knowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices; skill in effectively leading, managing, supervising, and evaluating assigned staff.
Working Environment
EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy.
Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing.
Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required.
Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties.
