Job Summary
The Fraternity & Sorority Life Coordinator will work closely with the Interfraternity Council and College Panhellenic Council. He/she will attend regular meetings with both boards and monthly with chapter presidents and advisors. He/she will be the liaison between Fraternity & Sorority Life and the university and inter/national organizations. He/she will also assist with community service/service-learning activities, and new student programming. He/she will oversee or assist with signature events in the office including Javelina Camp, Move-In Day, Welcome Week, and Miss TAMUK. This position provides excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Fraternity & Sorority Life
Serve as the University’s Fraternity & Sorority Life Coordinator for all Greek-letter organizations.
Establish and advise IFC and NPC organizations and attend all governing board meetings. Work as the Advisor for Order of Omega and attend chapter meetings.
Works directly with local chapters and national offices in chapter development, membership recruitment, university image, academic scholarship, community service, philanthropy, and risk management.
Remains abreast of all legal issues surrounding Greek Life
Coordinates Greek Life marketing
Maintains records and statistics on Greek Life
Oversees Hazing Prevention Week
Oversees Greek Week and Greek Games
Oversees Formal Panhellenic Recruitment and assist in training of recruitment counselors
Oversees IFC Recruitment
Coordinates and Oversees Dance Marathon Event with Greeks
Coordinates the management, recruitment, selection, and training of the annual Javelina Camp program for first-year students.
Assist with the Javelina Camp program
Responsible for implementing new student orientation programming with Javelina Camp Pack Leaders
Reports on the records and statistics for Javelina Camp
Coordinates volunteers for move-in day with Fraternities & Sororities
Assists with the coordination of the annual Miss TAMUK and programs
Assist with community service and service activities
Office of Student Activities
Assist with the department’s marketing and public relations coordination.
Participates in university committees as assigned.
Completes administrative tasks including department reports, memos, correspondences.
Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Activities.
Minimum Requirements:
Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience – One year of related experience in planning, implementing, and event management skills
Knowledge of – Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Ability to – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Other Requirements:
- Work beyond normal office hours and/ or work on weekends.
- Prior membership in a Greek-affiliated organization is preferred.
