Starter Technician is responsible for the daily operations and maintaining Starter equipment. Inoculates maturation tanks and creates bulk starter culture. Accountable for maintaining department programs for sanitation, assigned periodic gasket changes, and culture inventory management. Responsible for understanding and following all programs/procedures as outlined in company policies and procedures that are under their scope of responsibility.
This role has a responsibility for ensuring both food safety and quality of Chobani product.
Responsibilities
Produces bulk starter for use by HTST and monitors quality and pH throughout processing and use.
Inoculates maturation and starter tanks, accurately documents materials, and lots used for production.
Receives cultures to include but not limited to: verifying shipment, count, condition, and completing the invoicing process once materials have been stored in deep freezers.
Measures cultures and maintains traceability of lots by updating staging template whenever template no longer matches physical staged materials.
Follows First In First Out procedures when staging, measuring and using cultures.
Keeps batch trackers up to date and maintains scanned copies of all finished documents.
Micro, pH, milk component testing and End of Day data collection.
Manual cleaning of CHOMIF prior to CIP as well as scheduling of starter tank CIP’s once out of production.
Inspects and swabs tanks prior to production.
Performs required periodic sanitation and gasket change procedures for department as well as other tasks given by management.
Follow Chobani’s safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices
Requirements
Basic background knowledge of lab testing such as pH monitoring and milk component testing.
Basic product flow and HMI use.
Understanding and application of Microsoft Office programs.
Quality focused and detail/accuracy driven.
Use and application of sanitation chemicals and equipment.
Must be able to work alone.
Strong self-motivation and sense of urgency.
Be able to lift 75 lbs.
Serve as back up in the absence of Starter Technician
