Physical Demands

Physical demands are consistent with a desk-type position requiring daily use of a computer display /terminal as well as some on and off campus commuting on a periodic basis.

Some night and weekend activities associated with programming, Fraternity & Sorority recruitment, and through larger, Office of Student Life programming.

Job Summary

The Fraternity & Sorority Life position serves as a leader on campus and primary contact for Sororities and Fraternities and is a critical position that oversees advising, education, and leadership development for recognized Fraternities and Sororities, 4 governing councils (Multicultural Greek Council, Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and the Order of Omega National Greek Honor Society).

This role manages the creation and implementation of training and educational programs that assist Fraternity and Sorority members to understand hazing awareness, sexual assault prevention, alcohol education, inclusivity, scholarship, risk management, community relations, and programming. The position reports to the Executive Director of Student Life while actively collaborating with other campus and community support services to deliver timely, relevant, and appropriate engagement and accountability programs.

This role supports the Division of Student Affairs curricular approach to student learning, serves as a member of the Office of Student Life Leadership Team, and works to:

  • Utilize current student learning and development, Fraternity & Sorority culture research, and intersectionality theories, student affairs values, and current trend data to provide support and direction to faculty, staff, and to enhance the educational experience of students who participate in Fraternity & Sorority Life.
  • Contribute to student success by providing direct student support services and maintaining meaningful relationships with students, faculty, staff, and other constituents within UNC, the Greeley community, federal and state government entities, and national organizations to ensure collaborative partnerships, effective programming efforts, and comprehensive support students within Fraternity & Sorority Life.
  • Work in partnership with the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance and the Office of Community standards and Conflict Resolution to coordinate integrated training, education, and accountability as it pertains to Title IX compliance and the Bear Code.
  • Provide academic and social support services as well as activities, which enhance university-wide efforts for recruitment, support, and persistence for students who participate in Fraternity & Sorority Life.
  • Assess and evaluate student interests, university processes and direction, and the current societal environment to select events, speakers, and programs, which enhance the academic environment and align with the academic plan, mission, and values of UNC.
  • Train, advise, and evaluate Fraternity & Sorority Life student leaders, chapter presidents, council officers, and graduate staff in effective organizational management, planning, and program coordination.
  • Serve as the Budget Director for Fraternity & Sorority Life in order to create and maintain accurate fiscal processes.
  • Stay abreast of current state and federal statutes, laws, and Inter/National Fraternity & Sorority policies which pertain to the management, support, and coordination of the Fraternity & Sorority Life program.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3-6 years of student affairs experience or a Master’s Degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education, Counseling, Psychology, Public Administration / Policy or other related field.

Required Experience:

  • Previous student affairs experience of at least 2 – 4 years

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience:

  • 2 – 4 years of professional experience in developing, administering, and implementing programs and services in a college/university setting or similar.
  • 1 year managing and administering a budget.
  • 2 years supervising employees (professional employees preferred).
  • Experience working in an environment where diversity, equity, and inclusion are honored and practiced.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is $52,000. Benefits available include health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement plans. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.
