The Associate Director of Greek life serves as a member of the Greek Life team and is instrumental in creating a developmental based vision for the Greek Life program. Primary responsibilities include staff recruitment, selection and training; assessment, implementation of crisis protocols and serving as a student conduct hearing officer. Additionally, the associate director will oversee the Culture of Care initiative.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Oversee all Culture of Care initiatives, including but not limited to: Bystander Intervention Training and Catalyst Training. Write curriculum, plan trainings, assess progress and provide a strategic vision for all Culture of Care initiatives. Provide training and advising for the IFC and Panhellenic officers responsible for implementing the Culture of Care in the Greek community and provide support for all initiatives that they undertake. (18%)
Oversee the SMARRT peer education program. Write curriculum, plan trainings, assess progress and provide a strategic vision for the SMARRT program. Work closely with University Health and Counseling Services and the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women in developing strategic goals and planning and implementing training. (14%)
Oversee the training and advising of chapter officers assigned to risk management, including but not limited to, risk managers, social chairs and health/safety chairs. Write curriculum, plan trainings, assess progress and provide a strategic vision for working with these chapter officers. (6%)
Assume primary responsibility for all Greek life student conduct including chapter community standards. Serve as individual hearing officer; serve as primary advisor to IFC and Panhellenic chief justices; advise and train the Greek life student judicial board; attend weekly student conduct meetings; investigate all cases involving Greek chapters; maintain all files and correspondence associated with the Greek life judicial process; track sanctions and make sure chapters and individuals follow through. (18%)
Maintain a work environment and a residential environment that is marked by a sense of community, respect for others, that values inclusiveness and builds workforce diversity; and that fosters cooperation and teamwork, with the supporting values of well-being, integrity, resiliency, curiosity, collaboration and inclusion. Actively infuse practices to enhance academic excellence and impact, inclusiveness and diversity, integrity and transparency and effective stewardship. In support of strategic enrollment changes continue to adapt programs and services for international and out-of-state students with additional consideration given to special student populations including but not limited to women in STEM, students of color and students who identify as LGBT+. Assume primary responsibility for care management for Greek students of concern. Collaborate with the Dean of Students Office, Undergraduate Studies, Educational Support Services, University Counseling Services, University Health Services, campus police, LGBT Center, Flora Stone Mather Center for Women, Office of Multicultural Affairs and Residence Life to provide programming and referrals for Greek students; participate in weekly students of concern meetings; and work with chapters to establish support systems for their members. (6%)
Advise 26 chapter presidents on chapter issues and their own leadership development. Meet with chapter presidents weekly and develop and execute curriculum for the Lyceum, the annual retreat for chapter presidents. (10%)
Assume primary responsibility for assessment of the Greek Life Program. Prepare data analysis to help guide the Office of Greek Life and the Greek chapters in strategic planning initiatives; assist the Office of Greek Life and the Greek chapters in identifying appropriate indicators and evaluation measures for assessing student learning; advise the Office of Greek Life and the Greek chapters on the best practices in collection, analysis, reporting and use of assessment information to improve student development; develop and conduct effective Office of Greek Life staff trainings on utilization of direct and indirect assessment measures; and track outcomes from assessment protocols over a five and ten year cycle. (10%)
Serve on a senior level on-call rotation with Residence Life for the undergraduate population. Provide support for all on-campus medical, mental health and alcohol crisis situations. Initiate crisis intervention follow-up with the Dean of Students Office, Student Success, University Health and Counseling Services, International Student Services, campus police and other offices as appropriate. (6%)
Assume primary responsibility for the day-to-day functions of the Office of Greek life. Plan and schedule meetings, retreats and in-services; oversee recruitment, selection, training and professional development of professional and graduate staff; and assist Director of Greek Life with all strategic planning initiatives. (6%)
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Represent Case Western Reserve University to area colleges and universities through participation in local, regional and national organizations. (<1%)

Department: Continuous contact with all departmental staff for the purpose of executing the office mission.
University: Frequent contact with staff of the Office of the Dean of Students, Student Conduct and Community Standards and Student Success for the purpose of individual student issues and trend identification. Moderate contact with staff in the Office of Student Activities and Leadership, FSM Center for Women, CCEL, Office of Multicultural Affairs to coordinate programming procedures and services. Occasional to moderate contact with staff from the Office of Student Affairs, University Health and Counseling, Protective Services, First-Year Experience and Family Programs, other Student Affairs departments.
External: Regular contact with chapter advisors and national chapter staff. Occasional contact with parents for consultation and assistance with student concerns. Infrequent contact with prospective students and parents for the purpose of supporting admission recruitment, alumni for the purpose of programming and advising, employment candidates for the purpose of hiring in the department and allied departments, outside vendors and services for the purpose of acquiring services and products and members of regional and professional associations for the purpose of professional development, leadership and learning.
Students: Continuous contact with student employees and undergraduate residential students, Interfraternity Congress, Panhellenic Council, chapter officers and members for the purpose of providing a developmental experience for all Greek students.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Provide direct supervision for 1 Manager for Culture of Care and 2 Greek student leadership interns. Provide functional and administrative supervision for 1 departmental assistant and 5 graduate house directors.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: 5 to 7 years of experience in Greek life required.
Education/Licensing: Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline required. Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Student Development, Counseling or related discipline preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as conflict resolution techniques.
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and perform work with a high degree of accuracy over extended periods of time.
Experience working in and helping to develop diverse and inclusive communities.
Must include a demonstrated record of conducting assessment, evaluation and/or research.
Ability to understand mission alignment and broad planning frameworks, long-term goals, outcomes-based approaches and key performance measures.
Record of dealing with student conduct including chapter conduct.
Ability to meet consistent attendance.
Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors and customers face to face.
