Duties and responsibilities:
Advising:
Serve as the primary advisor to the chapters and governing councils, scheduling meetings with chapter leadership as needed/appropriate throughout the week, month, and semester, as well as attending all council meetings.
Schedule and facilitate monthly chapter advisor meetings.
Meet regularly with national headquarters staff visiting campus, keeping them up to date with the current status of the chapter.
Ability to work with a second-year graduate student intern to assist with the councils, chapter leadership, and/or other areas as needed.
Management:
Track and maintain budgets for Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL), College Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council and the National Pan-Hellenic Council. Additionally, working with council leadership for the semester allocation process for chapters requesting funding.
Maintain FSL website and Presence pages (event planning platform), as well as social media outlets.
Oversee the semester FSL program and event calendar with council leadership.
Programming and education:
Assist in the planning and organization of programming and educational opportunities including, but not limited to council retreats, council/chapter transition, officer trainings, Presidents Council, risk prevention/harm reduction, hazing, alcohol and other drugs, new member experience, social justice, sexual assault prevention and accountability.
Ensure that all chapters are registered and using the event management platform/app: Presence and/or Ready Education.
Support community, council and chapter specific events including, but not limited to recruitment/intake, Greek Week, Greek Gala/Awards, and meetings with students, advisors, alumni and more.
Annually attend local, regional and national conferences with student leaders as permissible.
Represent FSL at all Open Houses, orientation events, homecoming/alumni weekend, and any other scheduled community event.
Risk management and student judicial conduct:
With the three councils, develop and advise fraternity/sorority student conduct board, to address chapter infractions related to recruitment and other social programming.
Develop process to access risk management as it relates to chapter events and activities, such as Greek Week, Greek Olympics, Formals, and other annual traditions.
Oversee hazing prevention programming and awareness on an annual basis.
Assessment and data:
Compile grade reports for all chapters and generate a community grade report.
Track community service hours with the Office of Community Involvement.
Analyze feedback and assessment, making recommendations as appropriate, for FSL programming and educational opportunities.
Work with chapter leadership for semester Chapter Health Analysis and SWOT presentations, presenting critical feedback, recommendations, and recognition as appropriate.
Collaboration:
Work with Housing and Residence Life to coordinate the renewal and oversight of the Olympus Agreement for chapters with houses on Vernon Street, including regular inspections of the houses.
With Alumni Relations, develop opportunities for FSL to engage with alumni members, especially those within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
With chapters, assist with the development and engagement of chapter alumni boards.
With councils, develop monthly e-newsletter for campus community, updating on FSL programs, recognitions, and opportunities.
Other duties:
Assist the director of student engagement and leadership development in the implementation of major campus events and traditions, including Hornet Days, as well as supporting other campus wide leadership programs such as, John G. Eccles Leadership Summit, Leadership Awards, Anderson Leadership Conference and student leadership trainings.
Provide assistance with the overall function of the Drysdale Student Center. This could include, but is not limited to: student training, evaluation and supervision; programming; marketing; POS; calendar management; and on call responsibilities.
Serve as Dean on Call on a rotating basis. To be determined.
Serve on University committees as interested, appropriate and/or requested.
Perform any other related duties as may be required.

Oral and/or written requirements:
Excellent oral and written skills needed for effective communication in individual and large group presentations. Excellent reading comprehension and writing abilities. Good mathematical skills for budget preparation. Familiarity with Google and Microsoft Office, as well as Campus Recruiter.
Working conditions:
The functions of this position are usually performed sitting, but may involve significant amounts of walking or standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting or carrying may be required. The normal workday is from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., however, student groups may require hours beyond that, as well as weekends.
Minimum experience and education:
Master’s degree in student personnel administration, higher education or related field is required. Significant graduate assistantship and/or internship experience working directly with FSL is required, with a minimum of one year professional experience working with FSL being preferred. Specifically, working with councils, advising student leaders, housing operations/Olympus Agreement, and recruitment for all fraternities and sororities, as well as student conduct and risk management. Availability to work nights and weekends, when needed, in order to ensure a quality student experience is an expectation for the position.
Salary and benefits:
This is an 11 month, non-exempt position with full University benefits, including health, dental, vision and retirement, as well as the opportunity to take academic courses. Salary range between $36,000 and $38,000 based on experience plus additional professional development opportunities.
