Vaccine Protocol
The University of Maryland has made the safety of our students, faculty and staff, and our surrounding communities a top priority. As part of that commitment, the University System of Maryland (USM) recently announced that students, faculty, and staff on USM campuses this fall, including UMD, are required to be vaccinated against COVID. As a prospective and/or a new employee at UMD, you will be required to comply with the University’s vaccination protocol. Proof of full vaccination will be required before the start of employment in order to work at any University of Maryland location. Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Advising and Programming Coordinator will be responsible for:
Advising two governing councils, including attending executive board and council meetings, and sub-committee meetings
Advise chapter leaders and members from different councils, including ~25 chapter presidents from multiple councils
Attend programs and events sponsored by students and groups
Advise council and chapter leaders in planning and implementation of chapter and council programming
Advise intake and recruitment processes
Serve as the University liaison to chapter presidents and officers
Meet with inter/national and local representatives of chapters
Work collaboratively with and assist alumni in the improvement of chapters.
Collaborate with 2-3 graduate students who serve as advisors to council leaders.
Coordinate educational programming on topics such as diversity, equity and inclusion, alcohol and other drugs, mental health and wellness, and sexual assault prevention.
Work to advance the University of Maryland educational programming for chapters and councils, including standards programs.
Provide leadership development training for sorority/fraternity community leaders, including teaching credit-bearing courses.
Work with the Advising and Programming team to coordinate major programming efforts including the Fraternity and Sorority Leadership Summit (Fall & Spring) IMPACT, Greek Awards, and other programs.
The Advising and Programming Coordinator is a twelve-month exempt staff level position that reports to the Assistant Director of Advising and Programming.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, and at least 2 years of professional experience in student affairs work in a university or equivalent setting. Advising skills and fraternity/sorority life experience required. Demonstrated ability to work in a student life setting necessary.
Preferences:
Master’s degree preferred. Experience with large diverse public institutions also preferred.

Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary position involving extensive use of desktop computers. The position does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs. May lift 40 pounds at some time. May have to rearrange furniture for events and meetings.
