Responsibilities
The Department of Classics at Florida State University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the level of assistant professor. Florida State University is home to a large and diverse student body; candidates should be prepared to foster that diversity and inclusion in their research, teaching, and service.
This is a tenure-earning position that will begin in August 2022.
The 2/2 teaching assignment normally includes both undergraduate- and graduate-level teaching with at least one large undergraduate course with broad appeal to non-majors. More information regarding the program at FSU can be found at our website.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
We seek a broadly trained classicist specializing in Greek poetry.
Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to both research excellence and engaged teaching to multiple constituencies.
Preferred
Candidates working in epic, drama, and/or reception are especially welcome to apply.

Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
