ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Recreation and Wellness department provides opportunities for USF students, faculty and staff to participate in a wide variety of recreational pursuits. Recreation and Wellness is a department within Student Success. The department has 29 full time employees and 400+ part time employees. The budget for Campus Recreation is just over $3 million and the Campus Recreation Center alone has over 550,000 visitors per year.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sports Programs Coordinator will provide administrative leadership to the Intramural Sport and Sport Club programs at USF. The coordinator will provide direct supervision to 4 graduate assistants, 40 supervisors and program assistants, along with seasonal employment of officials ranging between 10-40 individual’s dependent upon the sport. In addition, this role is expected to serve in an advisory capacity to the Sport Club Council, which is comprised of 5 student members elected by the sport club general body and responsible for the fiscal allocation and oversight of $300,000 in student government funding. Some evening and weekend supervisory and training hours will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and certify attendance and leave of graduate and program assistants, supervisors, and officials.

Oversee daily program functions, including managing marketing efforts, overseeing student staff and participant disciplinary hearings and adjudication, tracking club administrative compliance, developing program and events, scheduling and staffing intramural and club programs and events, assist with the athletic training program and services provided through recreation and wellness, and managing equipment inventories.

Advise the Sport Club Council (SCC) and Student Officials Associations (SOA). The SCC reviews and allocates Interim and Annual Budgets for all recognized clubs while the SOA provides additional opportunities to engage and fund current student officials by enhancing their officiating skills through involvement in NIRSA extramural events and the Tampa community. Both organizations serve as an advisory board, providing their feedback and opinions on a variety of issues that impact sport clubs and student official employment. This position will assist the SCC and SOA to develop events and initiatives to serve their respective populations.

Establish working relationships with other campus entities to implement global policies and procedures to better facilitate programmatic operations: Office of Greek Life, Office of Residence Life, Student Government, A&S Business Office, SG Travel Office, Student Rights and Responsibilities, SMART Institute, and Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement.

Assist with department goals and collaborating on department wide events/initiatives.

Assist in strategic planning and assessment including establishing learning outcomes for student participants and employees within program area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, with at least one year of experience in a student/affairs/student personnel position. A Master’s degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or Sports Recreation Administration preferred. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree requirement for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Higher Education, Recreation, Physical Education, Student Affairs or related field and two years of professional experience in collegiate recreation setting, specifically in program areas of Intramural Sports. Graduate Assistantships are acceptable for professional experience.
