HERFF JONES, Pre-Press/Imposition Supervisor – Edwardsville, KS

Your Opportunity:
The Herff Jones Production team is looking for a Pre-Press/Imposition Supervisor to join our team in Edwardsville, KS.

This is a Regular Fulltime (Exempt) position with benefit eligibility including, medical, dental, vision, life, 401(k), paid time off, and additional voluntary benefits.

The production team’s standard shift is 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.

Hours fluctuate to 9 hour days if needed during peak season including Saturdays and Sundays if necessary due to customer demand. Seasons vary between January through end of May.

Here’s How You’ll Make an Impact:
The Pre-Press/Imposition Supervisor is responsible for supervising the team that performs pre-press and imposition work for yearbooks for our schools and universities. You will help support this team with safely delivering quality product on time to customers with optimal efficiency. While you’ll lean heavily on your technical abilities, your greatest asset will be your drive and commitment to quality. What We Want You to Accomplish:
First 90 Days:
Working knowledge of software being utilized by computer operators.

Understanding of process flow and all policies and procedures.

First 180 days:
Active engagement in reducing quality remakes to less than 1%.

Driving on time delivery to 100%.

First 360 Days:
Successfully hitting budget targets and efficiency goals.

Actively participating in process improvement activities.

What You’ll Be Doing On A Daily Basis:
Directly supervises in Imposition department.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Directly responsible for the quality metrics of the imposition team.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Oversees manning of department to optimum levels to meet production deadlines.

Implements procedures needed to meet the quality standards established for the product.

Develops and maintains accurate and meaningful work measurements for department.

Responsible for maintaining high productivity and workflow.

Communicates and implements changes in equipment or materials.

Develops and maintains written procedures on new and existing work methods.

Maintains an awareness of equipment or processes that are either in use or may be in development that will facilitate production of material through the department.

In coordination with Commercial supervisor, directs production activities of the commercial group.

Works closely with production departments to ensure all orders are imposed appropriately to minimize waste while working for production processes.

Ensures timely and accurate delivery of all jobs.

Keeps Plant Superintendent informed on all matters relating to production.

Represents the company in a professional manner at assigned meetings.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have strong imposition skills and experience.

Experience in commercial printing.

3-5 years of prior supervisory experience in manufacturing preferred.

Previous experience managing a manufacturing team of 10+ employees.

Demonstrates strong leadership skills.

Ability to organize and prioritize job duties.

Proven success in hitting production numbers.

Proven success to effectively communicate (listening, writing and verbal) across all levels of an organization.

Background and skills with Microsoft Office and learning new systems/technology with understanding some work is processed manually.
