SUMMARY:
The Social Sales Manager prospects and books new business in the social segment: weddings, rehearsal dinners, proms, greek and non-profit events, as well as school, scouts, faith and sports ticketing programs. The position requires a dedicated individual who will take direction from the General Sales Manager in carrying out the duties of the position. Additional duties include building and maintaining relationships with community partners and wedding vendors to gain additional sales leads and fill pipeline. Extensive phone work required. Superior selling, prospecting and problem-solving skills are needed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Fast paced, highly rewarding position for the right person. Ability to work weekends and nights as needed.
Required Skills
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meet and exceed quarterly and annual event and ticket revenue goals
Plan and sell unique, memorable and fun events to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction
Maximize revenue through up-selling, creative event planning, and suggestive selling
Conduct inside and outside sales calls including client tours
Optimize the sales funnel in order to maximize the conversion of prospects to qualified leads to booked events
Maintain and develop accurate customer and prospect database
Identify and develop group and event leads through prospecting, cold calling and approved networking activities
Respond to all event inquiries (online and phone) within one business day
Achieve high levels of customer loyalty and retention through customer relationship management activities
Attend, network, and give presentations at wedding shows and other community activities to promote the business
Prepare event contracts and proposals
Conduct and manage appropriate follow up to events to include letters, thank you cards and surveys
Plan and execute spring/fall wedding shows held on-site
Know and keep records on the competition, their products, prices, and selling strategies
Communicate regularly and effectively with sales team associates and other internal departments
Attend weekly sales meeting
Other duties as assigned
Required Experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
College Degree in applicable field or equivalent experience required
Minimum of 2 years of event or hospitality selling experience
Previous experience working social events desired
Solid analytical skills
Successful track record in problem solving and negotiation skills, with special emphasis on closing the sale
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, with focused attention to detail
Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements
Must be a team player, ready to help whenever and wherever needed
Solid skills and previous experience with web-based contact management programs
Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Outlook)
REQUIREMENTS:
Successful completion of pre-employment background check
Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 20 pounds
Immunocompetence (possible exposure to infections and parasitic disease).
