Assignments Coordinator, Residence Services

Coordinate residence hall assignments for student housing at Kent State University. Reports to Associate Director, Assignments, Residence Services.

Examples of Duties:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Assist with student housing assignment processes for Residence Services.

Act as primary coordinator for the administration of break housing periods and summer school housing.

Serve as primary contact for inquiries regarding assignments.

Provide leadership for the mandatory housing commuter exemption process.

Assist in the technical coordination of the housing management system and assignment process; example activities may be related to student/staff application creation and residence hall re-contraction efforts.

Coordinate student housing needs related to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) program requirements.

Develop and implement roommate matching processes and coordination.

Assist with marketing to increase student occupancy during summer sessions and break housing periods.

Coordinate communication to students regarding application to housing, contract renewal, and other information related to assignments.

Coordinate contracts for students living in university-owned Greek houses as needed.

Work with technology and development staff in the implementation of applications to improve functionality and efficiency of existing processes.

Assist in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures.

Serve on department, division, and university committees as requested.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable:
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel, or relevant field. Two years experience in a student service area. Must be able to work nontraditional hours as needed, including evenings and weekends.

License/Certification:

Knowledge Of:
Project management

Working with college student populations

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) *

Skill In:
Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills *

Developing, implementing, and evaluating projects from initiation to completion *

Developing and facilitating training programs

Customer service orientation

Various software/tools (e.g.MS Office Suite, etc.) to generate reports and provide data analysis for supported functions in the department

Ability To:
Provide leadership and direction for a project or initiative *

Respond calmly and quickly to challenging situations *

Work independently and as part of a team

Gain the cooperation of others through earned respect

Multi-task while managing multiple projects and assignments *

Adhere to deadlines

Work nontraditional hours, including evenings and weekends as needed *

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:
Experience in residence life or housing. Supervisory experience.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
