POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Residential Life and Education reports to the Director of Residential Life and Education. Together with other Assistant Directors, this position manages the daily operations of Residential Life and Education for 5,700 on-campus students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruit, supervise, train, and evaluate 5-6 full time Master’s levels professional Residence Life Coordinators. Provide leadership and guidance to Assistant Residence Life Coordinators (graduate assistants), Resident Assistants, and Community Managers.

Serve as a member of the Residential Life and Education leadership team (Director, Program Director for Academic Initiatives, Program Director for Living/Learning Communities, 3-Assistant Directors)

Work closely with Program Directors for Academic Initiatives and Living Learning Communities to support academic partnerships and enhance learning in the residential experience through programming and curriculum, interaction with faculty, integrating Living Learning Communities, and through staff training.

Oversee two to three departmental committees such as Student Staff Selection, Student Staff Training, Social Justice Committee, Full-time staff selection, Residential Curriculum Committee, etc.

Act as essential personnel in emergency situations (hurricanes, pandemics, etc.) Serve in an on-call rotation for campus, any other duties as assigned.

Collaborate with New Student Connections, Student Rights & Responsibilities, Students Outreach and Support, University Police, Counseling Center, Academic Advocacy Program, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Affairs Shared Services Center (SASSC), Dining Services and additional campus and community agencies on issues affecting residence hall students.

Serve as a liaison to Operations and Outreach, Facilities and the Business Offices within Housing and Residential Education, in addition to university partners outside of Housing and Residential Education.

Manage major events and initiatives including openi9ng and closing of the residence halls, staff recruitment, staff training, summer orientation and a variety of special programs.

Manage administrative tasks such as KeyTrak (master key) tracking, report preparation, response to information requests, documenting processes, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum with three years of related experience; or a Masters degree and one year of professional Residence Life experience, including two years of supervisory experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, or a closely-related field and 4-7 years of professional Residence Life experience (graduate experience not included).
