Responsibilities:
Assess the developmental needs of the student leaders within Fraternity Sorority Life to include governing council leadership, chapter leadership and Order of Omega
Demonstrate culturally inclusive advising, supporting, coaching and counseling strategies for the students in this area
Provide training and on-going communication to chapter advisors to increase advising and helping skills
Develop virtual programs and initiatives to meet the needs of students with limited access to on site services
Assess the organizational needs of the four governing councils
Actively advise two of the four governing councils within the FSL community
Hold regular one on one meetings with council leadership, attend weekly council meetings, and oversee any sponsored council programs and events
Serve as primary advisor and point of contact for all recruitment/intake efforts for these governing councils
Develop and facilitate educational workshops for council officers, general membership and chapter advisors addressing relevant student and community issues
Establish best practices for increasing student success indicators; aiding in the management, compilation, and distribution of statistical information and database reports; assisting in appropriately address and resolve conduct and risk management incidents; assisting with the management of council portals on Engage
Contribute actively to the development of a culture of evidence within the Office of Student Involvement Leadership by providing AER training, advocacy and incorporating AER into practice within the area of Fraternity Sorority Life
Educate stakeholders about the relationship of departmental AER processes to learning outcomes and goals at the student, department, and divisional level
Design data efforts that are ongoing, sustainable, rigorous, unobtrusive and technologically current
Effectively use assessment and evaluation results in determining FSL’s accomplishment of its mission/goals, re-allocation of resources and advocacy for more resources
Assist with conduct enforcement and education of University policies and guidelines as well as municipal, state and federal laws to organizations within Fraternity Sorority community
Oversee implementation of online hazing prevention modules and chapter assessment to ensure chapter compliance
Supervise the Coordinator for Fraternity Sorority Life, a full time professional staff member within the Office of Student Involvement Leadership
May perform other duties as assigned
Annual Salary Range: $38,209.60 – $60,0080
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communication or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
Master’s degree strongly preferred with a concentration in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Leadership or a related field
Membership in a Greek organization
Knowledge of the social change model of leadership
Exemplary organizational skills with a strong emphasis on details
Experience in advising student organizations
Ability to present leadership workshops and training sessions that address values-based leadership
Ability to supervise both student and professional staff
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Strong computer skills using Windows, Microsoft Word, and Excel
Candidate must be willing to work evenings and weekends throughout the year.
