Position Summary
The Assistant Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating student engagement programming in the areas of diversity and social justice initiatives. Additionally, this person will support multicultural student organizations and students from historically underrepresented groups (including but not limited to African-American, Latinx-Hispanic, LGBTQIA+). He/she will also oversee the Fraternity and Sorority Life Community.

Education

Experience
- Two (2) years related work experience preferably in an educational facility in Student Activities/Student Affairs, Residence Life, and/or Student Orientation. (Minimum)
- Experience in leading trainings or workshops. (Minimum)
- Prior experience planning and executing on campus events. (Minimum)
- Prior experience in working with student organizations. (Desired)
Responsibilities and Duties
Essential:
- Develop, coordinate, and evaluate on-going educational, programs for topics including but not limited to Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Pride Week, Constitution Week, AAPI Month/Week, etc. (Essential)
- Facilitate and provide on-site support of weekend and evening programs (educational, social, student organization driven, etc.).
- Provide support, direction and, when appropriate, advise student organizations relating to diversity, social justice, and identified special populations or underrepresented student groups. (Essential)
- Oversee the creation of new diversity-related or social justice student organizations that meet the needs of a diverse student population.
- Participate in activities and provide support for students from historically marginalized populations and other identified special populations from the recruitment and matriculation process through enrollment and graduation.
- Serve as a resource to faculty and staff on issues related to social justice, diversity/cultural programming, and underrepresented student groups and special populations.
- Monitor the Campus Center areas assigned to Student Engagement and report any misconduct and/or misuse as appropriate.
- Oversee equipment set up and usage for events and assist when necessary with miscellaneous work assignments (e.g. prepare posters, welcome/introduce speakers, start movies).
- Develop, facilitate, and assess relevant workshops, trainings, including but not limited to the Safe Zone program, diversity/social justice, and Fraternity/Sorority Life.
- Provide information to the Student Affairs Marketing Specialist for ongoing coordination of marketing for students, staff and faculty.
- Stay current on national community and college service trends and issues, specifically related to diversity and multiculturalism.
- Work collaboratively with other Student Affairs offices, Academic Affairs, and other College offices on co-curricular programming opportunities.
- Stay current on National Fraternity and Sorority Life trends and issues.
- Act as adviser to the Greek Senate.
- Interface and correspond regularly with national headquarters staff of Penn College recognized fraternal organizations.
- Educate and ensure that fraternity and sorority organizations comply with campus and national policies and procedures and insurance regulations.
- Recommend removal/expansion of Penn College Fraternity/Sorority Life chapter organizations.
- Meet regularly with fraternity and sorority leaders and attend organizational meetings as needed.

As such, are required to use the following elements of the Learning Management System (LMS): Upload all syllabi, timely use of the grade feature, and collection of digital student work and distribution of digital course materials.
