General Summary

The Assistant Director for Engagement in the Office of Student Involvement is an integral member of the OSI team providing oversight and leadership for a range of programs, services, and resources that enhance campus life, student engagement, and contribute to student success. Specifically, the Assistant Director portfolio includes fraternity and sorority life oversight, departmental data collection and analysis, risk and liability management, student employee team recruitment, hiring and training, and direct supervision of staff and graduate assistants. Additionally, the Assistant Director plays a key role in departmental goal setting, budgeting, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities & Duties

Provide strategic oversight of programs, judicial situations, and services for the Fraternity and Sorority Life community, which includes the Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, and National Pan-Hellenic Council.

This community consists of 28 chapters that make up 10% of the DePaul student population.

Supervise two full-time exempt staff members.

Responsible for all aspects of risk and liability management, as well as policy and procedure maintenance and adjudication as needed. This includes research, comprehensive policy review and revision, and policy education for the 28 DePaul chapters, serving as the in-house expert on fraternity & sorority life risk and liability knowledge. This requires close partnership with the Office of the General Counsel, Office of Risk Management, Student Centers, and the Dean of Students Office.

Plan and oversee Alumni & Family Weekend in tandem with Alumni Relations. Serve as OSI’s liaison for the university parent council.

Responsible for the assessment, collection, and analysis of key data points to inform the work of the department.

Facilitate the recruitment, hiring, management, and training of the student employee team.

Assist the Director of Student Involvement in strategic planning, goal setting, program planning, and evaluation, departmental needs assessment, communication and outreach to key audiences, financial planning, and staff development.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Master’s degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education/College Student Personnel/Counseling or related field.

At least 3-5 years of professional experience in student affairs/higher education.

Preferred Requirements

Experience supervising staff.

Managerial Responsibilities

Directly supervise two full-time exempt staff members and provide oversight for the Office of Student Involvement student staff.

Financial Responsibilities

As a member of the departmental management/leadership team, actively participates in departmental budget planning and decision-making for a budget totaling $1.25 million.

Possess an interest and commitment to student engagement at an urban, Catholic, mission-driven institution.

Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of programs.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written.

Ability to professionally and effectively interact with students, parents, staff, faculty, and teammates.

Ability to approach work from a student-centered perspective, with a focus on excellent customer service in the context of a higher education learning community.
