Purpose of Position
This position is responsible for coordinating the “WellU®”, student wellness incentive program and Health Education & Promotion program for the Campus Recreation & Wellness department at WKU. Provide overall strategic direction, leadership, assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of all campus health education and promotion initiatives. This will involve integrating with various campus departments including Counseling, Environmental Health and Safety, Greek Life, Health Services, Housing and Residence Life, Intercollegiate Athletics, Campus Recreation & Wellness, Public Health, and the WKU Police. Providing one-on-one health counseling as well as delivering group presentations is an integral part of the job function. The Student Wellness Coordinator will report directly to the Assistant Director, Health & Fitness.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The following duties are customary of this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Coordinate the WellU® student wellness program, Health Education & Promotion, and the Hilltopper Nutrition with various campus partners to provide a comprehensive online schedule of health and wellness programs and services for WKU students.
Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate graduate assistant(s) who will assist with the implementation, marketing, coordination, and assessment of the WellU® student wellness program and Health Education and Promotion program.
Oversee and maintain the WellU® student wellness and health education and promotion website including content and design.
Assist the Assistant Director, Health & Fitness with the WellU® student wellness program budget and Health Education and Promotion program budget to include programming initiatives and operating expenses.
Coordinate the WellU® incentive program including the procurement of incentive prizes, the documentation of winners, and coordination of scholarship awards.
Coordinate the Annual Student Health Fair.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student workers, interns, or volunteers for the WellU® program and the Health Education and Promotion Program.
Act as a resource person for students, faculty, and staff for all relevant and up to date health education and promotion materials and literature.
Responsible for the development, organization, implementation, evaluation, and marketing of a comprehensive & effective WellU® student wellness program and Health Education and Promotion program.
Develop and conduct health and wellness presentations to the campus community with primary emphasis to the student body.
Oversee the Peer Health Educators by actively assisting in the recruitment, training, scheduling, and evaluating of the student members and the programs.
Ensure the program is compliant with the ACHA’s Health Promotion Guidelines and Healthy Campus 2020 Initiatives.
Distribute and oversee the data collection for program assessment and evaluations.
Pursue and maintain WKU’s compliance with all relevant legislation regarding student health.
Initiate timely and necessary communication with the Assistant Director, Health & Fitness on any relevant issues.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and cultivates relationships with various university and local community departments and organizations.
Assists in the development and implementation of departmental and divisional special events when requested.
Assists in the development and implementation of departmental and university strategic and assessment plans.
Assist the Assistant Director, Health & Fitness with the administration of the ACHA National College Health Assessment.
Assist with the development of departmental risk management, marketing, membership, customer service, and staff development plans.
Serve on university committees and workgroups as assigned/needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, Health & Fitness.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Community Health, Exercise Science or a related field.
At least one year of direct supervisory and management duties.
At least one year of professional experience as a health educator and/or related wellness programming.
Effective organizational, motivational, communication, writing, and public relations skills.
Proven ability to create an atmosphere of sensitivity toward cultural, sexual, religious, and racial differences among people.
Note: Serving as a Graduate, Teaching, or Research Assistant will be considered as 1-year Professional Experience.

Salary Grade: 107 Salary Range: $16.00 – $19.50 per hour
