Job Summary
As a Director, International Development, you will lead energy project development and origination efforts in international markets. Based out of Chicago, you will lead development and permitting activities in coordination with local development teams as well as spearhead origination efforts for clean energy power transactions.
Responsibilities
Lead all stages of project development, from identification of greenfield sites to achieving Ready-to-Build status, for Invenergy’s growing international portfolio.
Represent Invenergy with joint venture partners, customers, landowners, state/provincial and local officials and other stakeholders
Identify new origination prospects, propose outreach strategy for all products and technologies under development, including key customer messaging, then lead customer negotiations
Understand and develop valuation models, analyzing the economic merits and risks associated with clean energy projects
Manage tasks according to budgets and schedules, including coordinating internal and external technical support and consultants
Prepare and present business cases to senior management regarding new markets, projects, and structures
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
8+ years of experience in energy or utilities sector with experience managing the development of international utility-scale wind, solar, natural gas and/or energy storage projects
Knowledge of the electric utility industry and electric energy markets
Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills
Experience managing and mentoring teams in a fast- paced, high-growth environment
Ability to travel up to 25-50% internationally
Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred. Hebrew, Greek, Japanese or other language fluency desired
Master’s Degree or MBA
Proficient financial modeling skills using Excel with exposure to management of complex models
Critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve complex problems
Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties
