Position Summary:
Responsible for leading a team of Program Managers and Project Managers to deliver a portfolio of IT projects. Accountable for both the delivery of these projects, as well as the performance of the program and project managers under his or her leadership. Oversees department goals and sets strategic vision for projects in order to ensure alignment with corporate objectives. Ensures the performance of all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with cross-functional business leaders to determine projects that best align with business goals.
Plans business objectives and sets department expectations by overseeing a team of program managers and project managers.
Establishes frameworks for robust project management, including: project management methodologies; tools; approaches to project team organization structure; risk identification and escalation processes; project decision-making responsibilities, etc.
Directs assigned project management staff to accomplish business objectives and ensure assigned IT project portfolio(s) are delivered on time and within budget.
Provides constructive feedback, support, discipline, and mentoring to staff under supervision. Completes performance appraisals and develops/implements personal training plans.
Validates the accuracy and quality of resource estimates and project plans.
Ensures project status reports accurately depict progress, dependencies, issues, and risks.
Supports project planning and prioritization through identifying and conveying strategic program objectives and project cost/benefits, as well as resource availability, capacity, and skillsets.
Assigns PMs to projects, balances workloads, and removes obstacles to success.
Ensures that common standards for documentation and delivery are met across all projects.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position.
Proven expertise in program and project management and strategic and tactical leadership.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with multiple deadlines, overcoming obstacles to success and managing scope/schedule/budget risks while tactfully resolving conflict.
Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Intermediate math skills; calculate interest and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
Effective organizational and time management skills.
Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage all levels of the organization.
Ability to make decisions that have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and cross functional departments.
Ability to organize and prioritize work schedules on a short-term and long-term basis.
Ability to provide consultation and expert advice to management.
Ability to make informal and formal presentations, inside and outside the organization; speaking before assigned team or other groups as needed.
Ability to deal with complex difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
Ability to work with little to no supervision while performing duties.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred and a minimum of ten (10) + years’ experience in IT Project Management with a focus on software development.
Experience running a PMO required.
Experience in the Mortgage industry preferred.
PMP certification or equivalent experience required.
CSM certification and/or MBA strongly preferred.
Experience in waterfall and/or agile delivery methodologies, as well as PM tools and techniques required.
Demonstrated team leadership experience with a focus on personnel coaching and development required.
