Position Overview:
As the Checker you will proofread via computer screen Imposition layouts. You will be responsible for the quality of layouts before the plant generation process occurs. You will also proofread via computer new pages and corrected pages. Upon completion of the pre-press season you will transition into the Bindery department to complete various duties assigned.
What we want you to accomplish:
You will identify organization and/or content errors of imposed pages.
You will insure quality by identifying errors on new and corrected pages.
Core Activities:
Examine the quality of the imposed eight up soft proof.
Check for correct pagination order, copy or other important elements being trimmed or set to close to the trim lines.
Correct color separation on CMYK and spot color plates.
Check for glue strip margins on the first and last page of the book and the correct imposition and plate layout is used.
Check updated PDF files to daily to insure on e file for each page.
Check glue strip, all pictures and elements on page.
Watch for dummy copy and duplicate pictures.
Check all fonts and sizes.
Check all corrections on proof check sheet have been made to pages listed.
Success Indicators:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Knowledge of basic file retreival and computer mouse navigation.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to work all hours needed including overtime and weekends.
