HERFF JONES, Electroplater – Warwick, RI
Position Summary: Electroplater runs racks of product through a series of cleaning, rinsing, and electrolytic plating tanks to plate rings and other jewelry for a decorative finish. Also includes some mass vibratory finishes.
What We Want You to Accomplish:
First 30 days: Follow all Safety requirements for the position. Start to develop the skills needed to become a Plater. These skills are racking up pieces and running racks through the plating tanks.
First 60 days: Continue with your skills training and learning the process HJ using to get the desired finish. Learn the basics of waste treatment and know when you dump a tank where it is going. Start to learn the opening and closing process for the department.
First 90 days: Become proficient at plating.
Ongoing: Continue to don PPE in the required areas and learn how to run the plating room in Lead persons absents. Take Ownership of the work and do not accept substandard work and do not pass it along. Continue to develop your skills as a plater and a valuable member of the HJ Team.
Core Activities:
Follow SOP’s to match production and or customer samples for each production order. Reject product out of specification.
Maintains all solutions used in the plating process. The solutions are gold, rhodium and nickel.
Places/sorts product with same finishes on plating racks or copper wire to begin the plating or cleaning process.
Responsible for quality control. Makes adjustments as necessary to produce product within specifications.
Operates within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Success Indicators:
Previous experience in a similar position preferred.
Strong communication skills
Multi-tasking skills
Ability to work overtime and on Saturdays during busy seasons.
Ability to establish priorities and work independently.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment within the plating department as well as other departments that Plating supports.
Education / Certifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to read and write in English is required.
Physical Requirements:
Manual Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
No skin or breathing allergies
