Department Information

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life is part of a team with other units that make up the Center for Student Engagement which falls under of the Division of Student Engagement & Well-Being. We work in collaboration with other offices in Student and Academic Life to support the success of our students.¿Our staff relies on regular communication with the headquarters staff and volunteers that help manage the individual chapters in conjunction with our student leaders. Our four councils help to coordinate the efforts and successes of the 50+ chapters (26% of the student body), as well as maintain the integral status of the larger campus and Atlanta communities.

Job Summary

Provide support, advice, and advocacy to a strong and well-established Greek Community on matters related to housing/facilities, leadership development, crisis/emergency response, conduct, and related issues. Serve on various Greek organization committees. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: campus Greek organization leadership and members, facilities management and staff, and Student Life staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: Greek organization leadership and community. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 –

Establish and build working relationships with and between volunteer alums, Greek headquarters organizations and campus community.

Job Duty 2 –

Advise one or more of the Greek governing councils (Collegiate Panhellenic Council, the Interfraternity Council, the Multicultural Greek Council, and the National Pan-Hellenic Council).

Job Duty 3 –

Manage facilities related services associated with chapters, including house maintenance, inspections, waste management, etc.

Job Duty 4 –

Provide advice regarding conducting of Greek sponsored special events.

Job Duty 5 –

Promote effective Greek chapter leadership through coordination of leadership development programs.

Job Duty 6 –

Respond to crisis and/or emergencies within the Greek community as needed.

Job Duty 7 –

Report on allegations of infractions of the Code of Conduct.

Job Duty 8 –

Support programs and practices that promote safe and healthy lifestyles for members of Greek letter organizations and the larger campus community.

Job Duty 9 –

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Overnight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requirements).

Two to three years of job related experience

Master’s Degree

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

This job requires knowledge of Greek community organization, living and activities and related Institute policy and rules. Skill in program management, communications, customer service and relationship building are required.
