HERFF JONES, Graphic Artist – Indianapolis, IN

Your Opportunity:
The Herff Jones Fine Paper team is looking for an Artist to join our team in Indianapolis, IN.

Here’s How You’ll Make an Impact:
The Artist is responsible for creating and updating the physical and digital art used to create the highest quality foil and lithography work in the diploma and graduation announcement industry. This role will also create highly detailed etchings of school mascots and architecture. A strong focus on quality, detail, and an ability to balance priorities will be key to operating successfully in the role.

What We Want You to Accomplish:
First 30 Days:
Basic understanding of Herff Jones Fine Paper Processes.

First 90 days:
Collaborate with other artists and internal clients to ensure efficient, on-time delivery of artwork and designs.

Create physical hand-sketches of school fronts for use on graduation materials.

Create and edit digital art for use in the engraving process.

Maintain accurate records and files of all relevant artwork in accordance with department SOPs.

First 120 Days:
Build positive relationships with customers and sales partners by delivering quality proofs and mockups.

What You’ll Be Doing on a Daily Basis:
Coordinate with customers and artists to complete art requests on a deadline.

Effectively present information in email and platform-driven communication to customers, sales partners, and internal account managers.

Execute art functions from beginning to end; including sketch design, prelim proofs, final proofs and press confirmation. All work must be thoroughly and correctly prepared within production parameters.

Other tasks as outlined by the Art Operations Manager.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Strong technical abilities in Illustrator and Photoshop.

Experience organizing and maintaining large quantities of digital assets.

Experience in production-ready art, including color separations.

Basic understanding of offset lithography and silk-screen printing.

Knowledge of color theory, design, and printing methods.

Strong creativity and design skills and ability to apply them in a timely manner.

Ability to effectively communicate (listening, writing and verbal) across all levels of an organization.
