The UAFS campus is comprised of 77 buildings and facilities located on 170 beautifully manicured acres and crowned with the Donald W. Reynolds Campus Plaza, Tower, and Campus Green. Students who choose to live on campus may do so in one of two residence hall complexes, complete with a full-service dining center, or the on-campus apartment complex for married students and upperclassmen. Campus involvement is encouraged by participation in more than 100 registered student organizations, which includes academic societies, a dynamic Greek life system, intramural sports, and cultural/special interest groups. The UAFS Lions compete in NCAA Division II Lonestar Conference in men’s baseball, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball, golf, cross country, and tennis.

About the College / Department

Position Summary

Will be responsible for the design of Campus Life Newsletters, Student Affairs Fall and Spring Reports, Student Affairs Annual Report, and additional marketing pieces through the year for the Student Life Office. The GDSA will report directly to the Administrative Specialist II in the SAO and the Director of Student Activities and Coordinator of Assessment for Student Affairs.

Summary of Job Duties

  • Work with Student Affairs staff and UAFS Marketing Department to design a monthly Campus Life newsletter with a calendar of events and news stories about upcoming events from the department.
  • Review fall/spring quarterly reports from Student Affairs and designs fall/spring one page “report” with infographics for Student Affairs Stakeholders.
  • Review Student Affairs written annual reports to design a visual Annual Report with infographics for Student Affairs Stakeholders.
  • Create infographics with Student Affairs data from quarterly reports/annual reports for use on social media.
  • Design general marketing for the Student Activities Office (i.e. flyers, table tents, digital design, etc.).
  • Assist with designing new and editing existing documents with Adobe (i.e. Student Life Involvement Guide, RSO Handbook, etc.)
  • Assist with RSO key check-outs, supply and table reservations in the Campus Center.
  • Assist RSOs with approval of flyers, making copies, restocking copy paper in the SAO and computer lab, checking and distributing office mail and maintaining a clean SAO Workroom area.
  • Greet guests, answer phones, and cover Switchboard when needed.
  • Create at least one Student Affairs visual newsletter per semester, highlighting goals and accomplishments to be sent to UAFS faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include: must be a UAFS in a major field of study such as Graphic Design or similar major, with a knowledge of Adobe. The student must also be in good standing and enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours. Prior experience working with newsletters and editing is a plus.

Special Job Dimensions

Work performed primarily in an office setting. Will be required to work a set block of time each day and may include some evenings. May also be asked to perform tasks which may require occasional lifting of no more than 20 pounds. Flexible between Monday – Thursday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Salary $11.00 per hour
