Job Overview

The Accountant will provide comprehensive accountancy support and guidance to vulnerable individuals, including refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants, at the Athens Solidarity Centre (ASC), to facilitate their access to tax, welfare, and social services.

Responsibilities

  • Accountancy Support and Guidance
  • Conduct Sessions with beneficiaries requiring advice and support on basic accountancy issues.
  • Guide beneficiaries in issuing tax-related documents and registering Taxation Identification Numbers.
  • Mediate with relevant public authorities (in exceptional cases).
  • Provide information and guidance to facilitate access to welfare benefits and other entitlements.
  • Support beneficiaries in completing tax declarations.
  • Database and Case Information Management
  • Record and update information in the ASC database accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide relevant information to other SolidarityNow (SN) staff regarding accountancy and welfare procedures.
  • Inform senior management about contextual challenges and emerging issues requiring advocacy or policy interventions.
  • Collaborate with team members to inform communication and awareness-raising initiatives.
  • Carry out other relevant tasks as required.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Degree in Accountancy or a minimum of 2 years of experience in an accountancy office.
  • Familiarity with taxation and welfare benefit issues for vulnerable groups .
  • Strong cross-cultural awareness and flexibility.
  • Excellent computer literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Highly organized, efficient and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong team spirit and collaborative attitude
  • Fluent in Greek and English (written and spoken).
