Job Overview

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Manager leads the design, implementation and continuous improvement of SolidarityNow’s monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning systems across the organisation. Working closely with programme and management teams, the MEAL Manager ensures that high-quality evidence informs programme design, implementation and strategic decision-making, while promoting accountability, learning and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Data Management & Reporting

  • Develop and oversee monitoring frameworks, data collection tools and reporting systems
  • Lead the continuous improvement of data collection systems, ensuring data quality, consistency and compliance with organisational and donor requirements.
  • Act as the focal point for donor-related MEAL requirements and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely reports.

Accountability

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of SolidarityNow’s accountability systems, procedures and guidelines.
  • Oversee the Concern Response and Feedback Mechanism (CRFM), including staff training, quality assurance and follow-up of concerns and complaints.
  • Ensure that accountability principles and cross-cutting themes—including participation, gender, age, disability and inclusion—are effectively mainstreamed across programmes.

Research & Evaluation

  • Lead the design and implementation of research studies, surveys, assessments and programme evaluations, including methodology development, data collection, analysis.
  • Present research findings and evaluation results to internal and external stakeholders and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Promote organisational learning by ensuring that lessons learned and evaluation findings are integrated into programme design and implementation.

Skill Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector.
  • Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Political Science, International Development or another relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of NGO project cycle management and results-based management.
  • Good knowledge of the humanitarian and civil society context in Greece.
  • Demonstrated experience leading research studies, assessments and programme evaluations.
  • Excellent knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital data collection platforms (e.g. KoboToolbox). Experience with SPSS or other statistical software will be considered an asset.
  • Experience managing databases; knowledge of CRM systems is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, communication and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and spoken Greek and English. Knowledge of additional languages and previous experience working with vulnerable populations will be considered an asset.
