Scope and General Purpose

As the Store Manager for Umami Sushi & Pan Asian Restaurants in Nicosia, you will be fully accountable for the overall performance of the restaurant, including both front-of-house and back-of-house operations. You are expected to adopt a hands-on leadership approach, ensuring our brand standards are upheld and continuously improved. Your primary responsibility is to deliver exceptional service and high-quality food while managing operational efficiency and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the management of the restaurant on a day-to-day basis, ensuring correct standards and results are in place/ achieved.
  • Actively manage the company’s standards of exceptional food quality and service and see they are continuously being strived for.
  • Improving internal processes for better productivity.
  • To achieve budgeted sales and costs targets.
  • Developing key performance goals and managing the performance of staff.
  • Overseeing, hiring and scheduling staff, tracking cash flow and setting sales goals for their team.
  • Make sure the restaurant operates within all relevant local employment legislation.
  • Overseeing large projects and interpreting performance reports.
  • Implement and communicate any changes in the law as they occur.
  • Ensure staff and management appraisals and ongoing training of all levels of staff are completed to time using development tools provided.
  • To take full accountability for coaching and developing junior managers and staff, seeking to constantly improve their knowledge and abilities using the training manuals and support information provided.
  • Maintain staff discipline and take necessary action where appropriate, follow company procedures and local legislation with regards to employment law and disciplinary action.
  • Actively promote the restaurant in the local area through marketing and drive sales and profitability by constantly striving for increased share of marketplace.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in the hospitality industry, including at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Proven leadership and team development abilities.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Thorough understanding of Cyprus health & safety, food hygiene, and labor laws.
  • Experience managing labor costs and driving profitability.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager in a high-volume restaurant or catering environment.
