Tango
Description
Tango is a successful, market leader, a live-streaming Platform with 450+ million registered users, in an industry projected to reach $240 BILLION in the next couple of years.
The B2C platform, based on the best-quality global video technology, allows millions of talented people around the world to create their own live content, engage with their fans, and monetize their talents.
Tango live stream was founded in 2018 and is powered by 500+ global employees operating in a culture of growth, learning, and success!
The Tango team is a vigorous cocktail of hard workers, creative brains, energizers, geeks, overachievers, athletes, and more. We push the limits to bring our app from “one of the top” to “the leader”.
The best way to describe Tango’s work style is not to use the word “impossible”. We believe that success is a thorny path that runs on sleepless nights, corporate parties, tough releases, and, of course, our users’ smiles (and as we are a LIVE app, we truly get to see our users all around the world smiling right in front of us in real-time!).

Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Hands-on Coding: This is a “hands-on” role where you will be expected to cut code daily as well as provide technical leadership. You will lead by example, solving the most complex engineering challenges.
Architecture Strategy & Execution: Collaborate with the Web Architect to define and implement technical strategies. You will be the local driver of these architectural standards, ensuring the team follows the global roadmap (e.g., MFE refactoring, Decoupling) while balancing it with business delivery.
Delivery & Observability: Oversee the full lifecycle: from CI/CD, Nginx, and CDN to Production Monitoring and BI integrations. You ensure the code reaches the user fast, stays healthy (Sentry/Datadog), and provides accurate data for business analytics
Release Strategy & Safety: You treat deployment as a process, not a boolean event. You implement Feature Flags and Kill-switches to decouple deployment from release, ensuring we can turn off a buggy feature instantly without a hotfix or rollback.
Team & Culture: Foster effective collaboration across internal and consultant teams. Mentor engineers, ensuring standardization of technology and documentation. Provide deep, architectural code reviews.
Web Domain Ownership: You own the Client-Side technical health of your domains (Finance/Backoffice). While you are not expected to fix Backend code, you act as the primary advocate for the User Experience. If the API fails, you ensure the Frontend handles it gracefully (Graceful Degradation), and you actively provide Backend/DevOps teams with client-side logs and traces to speed up the fix. You don’t just “blame the backend” — you drive the incident to resolution.
Risk Management: Proactively identify, communicate, and escalate technical issues and risks to stakeholders before they become critical incidents.
Business Alignment: Demonstrate business acumen — understand the role of technology in a company and able to balance business needs with tech needs.
Requirements
Experience & Mindset:
- 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering with a strong focus on Web Platforms.
- Proven Technical Leadership experience, including mentoring and supporting team members across different setups.
- System Mindset: You understand that Frontend is a distributed system. You adhere to principles like “Duplication is cheaper than the wrong abstraction” and know when to decouple domains.
- Engineering Culture (RFCs): You don’t just write code; you design solutions. You are used to writing RFCs (Request for Comments) and technical specs before implementation to align with the Architect and the team.
Hard Skills:
- TypeScript Mastery: You understand the issues of Type Soundness. You know when TypeScript “lies,” how to use Type Guards/Generics to enforce strict boundaries, and you treat any as a build error.
- React & Ecosystem: Deep knowledge of React internals (Reconciliation, Concurrency). Experience with modern State Management (Zustand) and understanding the physical cost of state hydration (JSON parsing impact on TTI).
- Distributed Architecture & Modularity: Experience in architecting large-scale applications. You know how to split a Monolith into decoupled domains (packages, services, or microfrontends).
- Ideally: Production experience with Module Federation.
- Alternatively: Deep understanding of Build-time vs. Run-time integration and readiness to master MFE concepts in the first weeks.
- Feature Management: Experience with Feature Flags (LaunchDarkly, Unleash, or custom solutions). You know how to manage technical debt created by old flags and how to use them for A/B testing and Canary releases.
- Delivery Infrastructure: Strong understanding of Docker, Nginx, and CDNs. You know how to configure caching headers (ETag, Cache-Control), handle cache invalidation, and tune nginx.conf (or other web service) for performance.
- Quality Assurance: Experience implementing automated testing strategies (Unit, Integration, E2E) that provide confidence without slowing down development.
- Performance: You don’t just guess; you measure. Deep understanding of Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) and Memory Management (finding leaks, detached DOM nodes).
Optional (Nice to have)
- Experience migrating build systems (e.g., Webpack to Vite/Rspack).
- Backend experience (Node.js, Go, or Python) to better communicate with API teams.
- Experience designing API-first RESTful contracts.
