The UAFS campus is comprised of 77 buildings and facilities located on 170 beautifully manicured acres and crowned with the Donald W. Reynolds Campus Plaza, Tower, and Campus Green. Students who choose to live on campus may do so in one of two residence hall complexes, complete with a full-service dining center, or the on-campus apartment complex for married students and upperclassmen. Campus involvement is encouraged by participation in more than 100 registered student organizations, which includes academic societies, a dynamic Greek life system, intramural sports, and cultural/special interest groups. The UAFS Lions compete in NCAA Division II Lonestar Conference in men’s baseball, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball, golf, cross country, and tennis.
About the College / Department
Position Summary
Assist with the management and administration of an effective and efficient basketball program. The position reports to the director of athletics.
Summary of Job Duties
- Responsible for all aspects of practice and game preparation as directed by head coach.
- Responsible for overseeing all aspects of game day operations. Coordinate all travel operations. Manage all administrative duties for the program.
- Assist in the recruitment of players by identifying and assessing talent, communicating with prospective student athletes, coordinate with respective departments for on campus visits.
- Responsible for academic supervision of players including communication with Faculty Athletic Representative and compliance office.
- Responsible for building good relationships with players, faculty, staff, boosters, and the community, monitoring possible disciplinary situations, serving as a liaison between players and head coach.
- Monthly report to athletic director on quality of food services for student athletes. Meal ticket provided.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and verifiable experience coaching basketball.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of all aspects of the game of basketball.
- Familiarity with university policies regarding athletics, Division II basketball programs, Lone Star Conference rules, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Successful completion of the NCAA Coaches Certification before the first practice.
Special Job Dimensions
Frequent travel required. Coaches may be called upon to assist with fundraising for the athletic department and to provide staff support to the other sports programs during their respective seasons. Valid driver’s license required.
Will work no more than 1350 hours per fiscal year.
