The UAFS campus is comprised of 77 buildings and facilities located on 170 beautifully manicured acres and crowned with the Donald W. Reynolds Campus Plaza, Tower, and Campus Green. Students who choose to live on campus may do so in one of two residence hall complexes, complete with a full-service dining center, or the on-campus apartment complex for married students and upperclassmen. Campus involvement is encouraged by participation in more than 100 registered student organizations, which includes academic societies, a dynamic Greek life system, intramural sports, and cultural/special interest groups. The UAFS Lions compete in NCAA Division II Lonestar Conference in men’s baseball, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball, golf, cross country, and tennis.

About the College / Department

Position Summary

The PC Systems Analyst is responsible for performing tasks directly related to the support of computers, printers, networking, and audio visual equipment, software, and end-user problems. This position reports to the Manager, Customer Support.

Summary of Job Duties

  • Performs installation, maintenance, and repair of computers and other related equipment for student labs. This occurs daily.
  • Performs installation, maintenance, and repair of computers and other related equipment for staff and faculty. This occurs daily.
  • Performs installation and maintenance of audio visual equipment. This occurs as needed.
  • Performs installation, maintenance, and repair of software (operating system and application) on campus workstations, and on PC Systems related servers. This occurs daily.
  • Performs installation, maintenance, and repair of computer peripherals, printers, and other related devices. This occurs daily.
  • Provides technical software and hardware support on technology related incidents. This occurs daily.
  • Inventories technology-related equipment and assists Service Desk personnel in maintaining hardware and problem reporting database. This occurs as needed.
  • Performs other related tasks such as moving of boxes and equipment, office moves, and new hardware installations. This occurs as needed.
  • Keeps informed of new software releases and plans for their distribution. This occurs as needed.
  • Works with other department members to specify hardware and software components for purchase. This occurs as needed.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of network administration and components of campus network. This occurs as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and by providing leadership to subordinates.
  • Requires consistent on-time attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in computer hardware and software support or a closely related field.

Applicants having an associate degree in computer hardware and software support or a related field (or equivalent hours) and four+ years of related experience will also be considered.

Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of computer system repair requirements.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate projects.
  • Ability to install, implement and maintain computer applications.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance to users.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10, Active Directory Administration, and networking is essential.
  • Ability and willingness to become proficient in new software packages quickly.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.

Special Job Dimensions

Extended hours and on-call duty occasionally required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Lifting, carting, pushing or pulling heavy objects up to 50 pounds occasionally required. Must be able to work on ladders. Must be able to work effectively under pressure in a busy and demanding environment.

M-F, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
