As a Product Category Buyer , you will be leading the Category of Sporting Goods for specific retail banner (Sportsfactory Outlet) working closely with the Commercial Director. This means driving sales, gross profit and stock levels results through sophisticated buying processes, new product opportunities, reviewing of commercial agreements, commercial operations excellence, optimal pricing, and promotion roadmap across channels for the categories assigned. The job requires strong commercial acumen, exemplary project management, data driven skillset, advanced negotiation skills and fundamental retail skills.

Main responsibilities

Organize the Category Buying Process and propose annual buying budget according to company business plan

Guarantee sales & commercial targets are met such as net sales, gross profit, stock health levels for the categories assigned

Tactical review, negotiate and improvement of commercial agreement terms with all vendors

Drive proper merchandising & content management programs for stores and online based

Conducting market research to identify new product trends and opportunities optimizing assortment based on operational and profit targets

Collaborate with commercial operations team, from scheduling shipments, planning stock levels per location and replenishment processes

Plan a solid and competitive promotion roadmap along with marketing and digital department and create go to market training plans to all channel

Requirements

Education & Experience

BSc/BA in business administration, finance, or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus

Proven 2+ years’ experience as category product buyer/manager in Retail with success record

Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset

Solid knowledge of reporting and financial/budgeting processes

Excellent organizational and leadership skills

Additional Knowledge, Skills, Traits & Abilities

Proficient in MS Office Suite and Power User of Excel & Reporting

Experience in ERP systems (SAP, NAVISION etc)

Excellent interpersonal skills, especially those required to successfully function as part of a cross-functional team

Strong communicator with ability to influence, build consensus and gain support

Demonstrated decision making & problem-solving capabilities in the face of conflicting priorities
