Business Unit Description
Global Derivatives Technology develops and supports xTrader, CIBC’s cross-asset portfolio management system. xTrader is a suite of .NET applications that feed the bank’s finance, regulatory, and risk management systems.
CIBC’s Capital Markets division provides integrated global markets products and services, investment banking advisory and execution, corporate banking and top-ranked research to corporate, government and institutional clients. Our Capital Markets business is growing in the United States. We recently launched a convertible bond trading desk, an environmental products business, and an expanded prime services franchise.

What You’ll Be Doing
The Production Application Support Specialist supports xTrader and other applications used by CIBIC’s Capital Markets division. The Specialist works with traders to solve technical problems. He or she acts as an advocate for the front office in discussions with the broader technology team.
How You’ll Succeed
Diagnose and resolve technical problems with xTrader and other applications used in Capital Markets. Escalate issues to internal developers, external vendors, or to our infrastructure providers. Prioritize when several issues occur simultaneously. Provide timely updates to the affected traders and to technology managers.
Gather business requirements, for example in anticipation of trading a new product. Liaise with the business analyst and project management teams.
Apply Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices for incident, change, and problem management. Manage major incidents in collaboration with CIBC’s Enterprise Incident Management team.
Support spreadsheet-based market data and pricing processes.
Test new application functionality before release.
Oversee operations team and vendors during application releases.
Build strong working relationships with traders, the broader technology team, and external vendors.
Document processes and recurring issues. Share knowledge within the team.
Perform disaster recovery tests to ensure the resiliency of CIBC’s systems.
Cross-Functional Relationships
This role requires extensive collaboration with traders, software developers, business analysts, project managers, and external vendors.

This is a challenging role that requires strong technical skills, experience with capital markets, and the ability to work in a fast-paced trade floor environment.
Educational background
Post-secondary degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, finance, or another analytical discipline.
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation would be an advantage.
Technical skills
Knowledge of financial mathematics, derivative pricing, and risk management (“Greeks”). Experience with commodities and equity derivatives would be particularly relevant.
Familiarity with the lifecycle of a derivative trade including pricing, confirmation, clearing, and settlement.
Broad technical knowledge of Windows and Linux.
Experience with relational databases and Structured Query Language (SQL). Experience with object databases like MongoDB would be an asset.
High-level understanding of computer infrastructure, including TCP/IP networking.
Experience with Microsoft Excel, including Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
Experience with market data, particularly Bloomberg, would be valuable.
Experience with ITIL, including an incident, problem, and change management tool like ServiceNow.
Experience with software testing and issue management using a tool like JIRA to track defects.
Experience with an application monitoring tool, e.g. Dynatrace or ITRS Geneos.
Experience with the software development life cycle, including requirements gathering and testing.

Working Conditions
This role is in-person at CIBC’s 300 Madison Avenue trade floor in New York.
The trade floor is an open, noisy environment with frequent interruptions.
Occasional work may be required on evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work outside of business hours can be done remotely.
Travel to Toronto, Canada may be required annually.
