HERFF JONES, Production Associate; Head of Line – Virginia Beach, VA.

Your Opportunity:
The Herff Jones Framing Success team is looking for a Head of Line Production Associate to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA.

This is a Regular Fulltime position with benefit eligibility including, medical, dental, vision, life, 401(k), paid time off, and additional voluntary benefits.

Shift: Typical working hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:00am to 4:45pm. Hours adjust as needed based on demands of the business.

Some overtime may be needed and/or required during peak season including Friday and Saturday based on volume.

As a member of the Framing Success Team, you will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment creating diploma frames to help our customers celebrate some of their greatest achievements. While you’ll lean heavily on your technical abilities, your greatest asset will be your drive and commitment to quality and safety. We live and work in a team environment and rely heavily on each other to assist across a variety of functions and on various machines so if you have a commitment to quality and a passion for your teammates, we want you!

What We Want You to Accomplish:
First 30 Days and on:
Read detailed work orders to determine setup specifications and efficiently set up your assigned machine

Understand and complete Final Assembly production process as Head of Line; this includes fitting the frame, mat, and glass together to form the final finished good while ensuring quality of those materials are in pristine condition when put together for shipping

Learn to operate a variety of machines (Cutting machinery, fastening equipment, and measuring tools) efficiently and safely to accurately produce world class frames

Initiate trial runs to verify accuracy of machine setup

Meet or exceed daily production goals

Approach everything you do with a quality mindset and adhere to a defined maximum scrap rate on items produced

What You’ll Be Doing On A Daily Basis:
Follow standard operating procedures, maintain a neat and organized work area

Perform routine adjustments safely while operating machines

Perform all assigned work effectively and on schedule

Follow and maintain safe manufacturing practices when working with all machinery

Maintain records of daily production, using paper and electronic forms (Microsoft Excel)

Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting

Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring to the Table:
High School or GED required

Proven ability (1 year or more preferred) to excel in a high production manufacturing environment with focuses on safety, quality control, and organization

Ability to learn new systems/technology with understanding some work is processed manually

Basic math skills and proficiency in taking measurements

Multiple examples of assisting teammates and working across different departments for short on long periods

Previous success maintaining a strong attendance and on time record

Physical Requirements:
Daily activity includes but is not limited to lifting, carrying, sitting, standing, grasping, reaching, kneeling, walking

Reading, communication, simple math

Standing on a fatigue mat in a specific area throughout an 8 hour+ shift

Be able to regularly move up to 50lbs

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
