HERFF JONES, Safety Lead – Arcola, IL

Your Opportunity:
The Herff Jones Operations team is looking for a Safety Lead to join our team in Arcola, IL.

Here’s How You’ll Make an Impact:
The Safety Lead is responsible to ensure regulatory compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations at a federal, state, and local level, injury prevention, injury reduction and provide support and resources to regional location.

What We Want You to Accomplish:
First 30 Days:
Conduct routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company EHS policies, procedures, and practices.

Maintain internal and regulatory reporting including data collection and reporting including collection of data.

Support Herff Jones’s EHS Goals and Objectives.

First 90 days:
Conduct, coordinate and track various EHS training to support organizations EHS programs

Assist in conducting EHS audits, identifying violations and applying abatement period

Participate in the investigation of incidents, and ensure CAPA’s are completed to minimize future exposures and proper records/documents are maintained

First 120 Days:
Implementation of EHS programs, ensure regulatory compliance, support, and sustain EHS initiatives

Implement programs, policies, and procedures that will reduce exposures, specific to injury prevention and reduction

Conduct, coordinate and track various EHS training to support organizations EHS programs

Establish and maintain effective relationships with Plant Managers, Supervisors, and production personnel

What You’ll Be Doing on A Daily Basis:
Review Safety data on metrics boards and work with Data Analyst to ensure correct.

Assist with creating JSAs for all equipment and processes.

Keep abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization

Take necessary steps to enhance a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel

Maintain compliance with permits, government regulations and other industry practices

Assist in conducting EHS audits, identifying violations and applying abatement periods

Participate in meetings to discuss workplace safety and regulatory concerns and opportunities for improvements

Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:
A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational / Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science, or other EHS related field preferred; other four-year degrees will be considered.

3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment

Ability to present to an audience

Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Word, and Excel applications

Ability to work independently with attention to detail

Organizational skills

Analytical problem solving, written and verbal communications

Experience working with local regulatory agencies preferred

Contribute to strong positive employee relations (internal customer service) at all levels within the organization
