Senior Microwave Antenna Engineer

Epirus designs and builds cutting-edge, high-powered microwave (HPM) systems that have the ability to transform industries. With a successful foothold in the defense industry, where we invented directed energy weapon systems that surpass current capabilities, we’re creating new possibilities for intelligently-driven power products in commercial markets.

Job objective: Epirus designs and manufactures novel RF systems, in a variety of form factors, in a rapid development environment. The Antenna Engineer role focuses on design, simulation, production, integration, and test of antenna and radome components. Antenna sub-systems are often phased arrays, so particular experience in phased array development and test is preferred. Radomes must be designed for a variety of antenna subsystem form factors, combining electrical and mechanical engineering with a focus on low loss, structural integrity, manufacturability, and high-quality finish.

Duties:
Perform RF and antenna measurements

Design, test, and manage microwave components such as; directional couplers, power splitters/dividers/combiners, RF connectors, antennas, circulators, and filters from UHF up to Ka band

Perform Electromagnetic simulation using HFSS

Simulate RF circuit board designs in ADS or equivalent CAD tool

Manage vendors to get RF products fabricated, assembled and sustained through manufacturing

Required Qualifications:
BS degree in Systems, Aerospace, Electrical, or related disciplines

5+ years industry experience, including microwave and/or antenna design and test

Experience working with RF lab equipment such as vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, and power meters

Experience with HFSS and/or other similar EM simulation tools

US Citizen (future security clearance may be required)

Desired Qualifications:
Knowledgeable in electromagnetics theory and microwave measurement techniques such as waveguide measurements, TEM cells, compact antenna ranges, radar cross section measurements, near field antenna pattern measurements, and reverberation chambers

Knowledgeable in state-of-the-art low loss RF power combiner technology and high power RF design and measurement

Experience with phased arrays

Organized; comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Eager to learn and to help others on the team

Epirus was the magical bow with infinite arrows wielded by the Greek hero Theseus. Like our namesake, we strive to be fast, efficient, and limitless in our approach. This agility, combined with a culture of innovation in systems development, allows us to move quickly without losing the decades of lessons learned.

We have developed technologies that leverage new breakthroughs in sensors and high-power microwaves, combined with computer vision and advanced software control. Our first broad-market application is a comprehensive defense system to defeat offensive drones at scale.
