Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Student Success and Enrollment Management, the Senior Outreach and Recruitment Specialist will actively recruit for Extended Learning’s credit and non-credit programs. The incumbent will deliver frequent presentations at community colleges, colleges, universities, business settings as well as attend relevant outreach and recruitment events in order to reach a target audience of prospective students and inform them of CSUSM program offerings. The Senior Outreach and Recruitment Specialist will respond to inquiries about CSUSM program offerings, the university application and/or the registration process. Correspondence with students may be in the form of in written, phone, or text. The incumbent will develop and maintain strong relationships with community colleges, universities and businesses and coordinate efforts to implement recruitment strategies that lead to maintained and increased enrollments.
The Senior Outreach and Recruitment Specialist must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and must be able to interact effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders (to include but not limited to internal/external faculty, staff, administrators, community leaders and business leaders). The incumbent must be goal-oriented, self-motivated, and effective at time management. The Senior Outreach and Recruitment Specialist will be required to make strong professional judgement recommendations in complex student situations to resolve application and registration obstacles and to consistently exercise good judgment while maintaining a delicate balance between student-centeredness and enrollment targets. The incumbent will collaborate with internal and external constituents which may include, but not limited to, student organizations, Greek life, social/cultural organizations, hospitals and business entities to disseminate CSUSM program offerings information. Responsible for rigorous assessment and evaluation to track performance and impact at all points of the recruitment and make adjustments to improve outcomes accordingly on an iterative basis throughout the year.
As an essential part of the EL team, the Senior Outreach and Recruitment Specialist is responsible for assisting inquiries, applicants and students in a professional and efficient manner, to adhere to all protocols in line with CSUSM and EL goals and values.
