Strategy Associate – College

Pollen has evolved from a business that focused on partnering with 3rd party experience providers to focusing on partnering with some of the biggest music artists, promoters, celebrities and influencers in the world to curate our own experiences. Throughout the second half of 2021 and in 2022 we’ll be launching 100s of travel experiences across multiple music genres with a particular emphasis on Latin, Electronic music and Hip Hop, as well as new verticals, including fitness. We have already launched experiences with several award-winning artists and partners across multiple genres, including DaBaby, J Balvin, Ozuna, and Brett Young.

Pollen has also established itself as the leading provider of group travel for US College students – across Spring Break, Fall Break, Holiday weekend trips, Formals (greek-life events) and College Football weekenders. We own and operate a series of own brand entities which generate tens of millions of dollars in revenue for our business each year, and act as the perfect acquisition channel for new users to our platform. The Associate role will be an integral part of this team, working closely with a Senior Manager to support overall strategic direction, new product development and commercial strategy.

In the first 12 months you will:
Support in developing the strategy for 2022/23 and beyond

We are looking to grow our College portfolio beyond our ‘Greek’ experiences to further capture experiences for all College students in North America. You will work closely with the Strategy Manager in developing a robust strategy, identifying key areas of revenue optimisation and importantly, new areas of growth. Data and insights are everything here at Pollen – in this role, you will leverage both qualitative and quantitative data to curate unforgettable experiences and determine the right mix of pricing, destination, and experience for our customers; turning the art of curating the perfect experience into a science. You’ll need to understand every element of the delivery of your products and turn your hand to a multitude of tasks to realise the biggest opportunities for your part of the business. You will be passionate about music and travel, and excited about the potential for Pollen to transform the experiences industry.

Be the go-to person for College experience commercials

You will quickly find yourself as the go-to person for daily P&L management for experiences, working with the Senior Manager and adjacent teams (hotel sourcing, event operations, sales, finance, etc) to manage College experience commercials. You will need to balance the need for revenue and margin whilst ensuring experience quality and success. As such, we expect you to be highly proficient in Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.

Get going, get better

At Pollen, we are first and foremost a Learning Organization, so we always want to get going, but get better. You will be responsible for conducting retro and key analysis of all campaigns to determine what works and what doesn’t, incorporating learnings into your College Playbook, becoming a key contributor to content to be shared across the organisation.

Excel at stakeholder management

In this role, you will be expected to work across multiple teams. Initially, you will be supported by a senior team member, but over time you would grow to at any one point leading multiple cross-functional projects.

Contribute to the team culture

As we look to build out our team, it’s critical that every team member play a role in building the team culture. Every person on the team has an “extra 10” role e.g., organising team activities, coordinating our goal-setting process, owning our weekly team pulse checks.
